Does anyone know if the stock bars were changed for the 2014/2015 models? I am wondering if the ProTaper Raptor might be good option for my 2014 ES.
Both the shape of the bars and the mounting was changed in 2014.

Great info -- thank you. Has anyone replaced the bars on their 2014/2015 with the ProTaper bars? I would like something with less sweep.

The bars will fit on a 14-15. The bar end weights are threaded into the stock bar and the Pro Taper Raptor bars will have to be threaded to match.
The Pro Taper Bars are also have the clutch side knurling that makes it difficult to install heated grips. :-[ The brake and clutch lines were at the limit but fit with no modes. Still in the process of taping the new bars to attach the bar end weights.

Wonder if the 12-13 bar ends could be made to work in that situation... Although, I used a threaded brass inserts to screw my end weight's bolt into, had to cut threads anyway. A wash...

Thank you, Desmo. Are you installing the Raptor bars on a 2014/2015 bike? If so, how does the Raptor model compare to the stock 2014/2015 bar geometry? I am looking for something with less sweep that the stock bars.

Less sweep. They sit higher but the wrist is straighter. I am still working on the bar ends. I need a 16 x 1.5 mm tap. I will post pictures when completed.

Just curious, is the 16 x 1.5 mm tap required a Right Hand thread or a Left Hand thread, or by some chance do you need both taps to do each end of the bars?

The Pro Taper Bars are also have the clutch side knurling that makes it difficult to install heated grips.
The Symtec heated grip kit comes with a heat shrink tubing section to cover the knurling. It works terrific - the heat is even on both sides and I've suffered no issues with the knurling abrading the heating elements. I bought the Symtec kit off Amazon for less than fifty bucks.

I used the HDB inserts, with the supplied tap:

The bar end weights are threaded which takes a 16x1.5 tap. I tried
hbd inserts but they can not be used with the original weights. The treading left or right I do not know. They are the same though.

Thanks! I'll try taking one off my bike when I get home. If "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey" holds true then they would be right hand threads...

Highway Dirt Bikes is who I went through. 5/8"x 11 was the tap for my inserts. My anti-vibe model came with a guide for the tap. Worth the money. LOL, not metric, though the 16 x 1.5 is going to be dang close visually. The 8mm bolt for the bar ends screwed right in. A bizarre combo.

Ha, now you're the pro at tapping for the 14-15 bar ends. I'd read that those ends are wrenched in there real tight, how tough was it really. What did you use to un-wrench them?

A 12mm allen will take the bar ends out

Got mine on the 2014 Friday, much better feeling back after 400 miles Sat and Sun. Where are you all setting them as far as +1 or -1 to centerline etc?

There was some discussion, but I'm not sure I followed the end result. Are you able to transfer the oem heated grips on the 14/15 ES to the protaper?

If you can pull the left grip off without cutting it.
