I just bought a 2013 S10 and am looking to buy set of side & tail bags. Including the mounts, what should I expect to pay on the pre-owned market for these?

I am in the same position, and what I found has been pretty dismal; mostly high end boxes fow sale at discount prices that are still above my pay grade, or boxes that are trashed. Happy trails has a pretty good deal going on ST cases that I would be hitting if I ain't still having some shock over buying a new motorcycle. 800$ for the full package shippd ain't bad.

It's a good deal, but just to clarify, it isn't the full package some may be thinking. It's the side cases and mounting hardware only. No tail case.

SPX is right. I don't like hard tail cases so I use soft bag.. But if your looking for the full meal deal it will cost you more.

The cheapest option I have found is tusk cases with a happy trails rack. Looks like you would save 150 off the sale price of the HT setup. Not sure on the attachment of the two but I Am sure they can be mated somehow.

My experience with aftermarket accessories is that something that is used but in new condition with all documentation sells for about 75% of the current best online price you can find. Discount from there for wear/tear/incompleteness, etc.

Markjenn, you may be right, but you have to figure things like shipping in. Especially panniers free shipping from the manufacturer can change the equation quite a bit.

I couldn't find a good deal on used bags that provided enough space for me. The OEM bags and Trunk are just to small for my needs.
I pulled the trigger on a set of Denali's from Happy Trails this morning. They do have a 20% sale on some Tenere' bags and free shipping right now.
But, it wasn't "Cheap". I did get about 150L of storage though for right around $1500. That gives me the side bags and the tail bag along with the isolation kit to keep the vibration down on the tail bag.
Hope to have the side bags in a couple of weeks.

I ended up with used Trax cases off a DR (big one on the wrong side) and SW motech mounts. 80L 700$ I am considering a cheapo topcase because my wife wont ride unless she has something to lean against, but she also wont ride if its cold and wet which means I have plenty of time to find one.

Most of my travel is day trips so 80L if anything is too much- if I can fing another 37L Left hand case for less than 400 I will probably grab it.

75% of new is a good number. I bid on a set of Touratech Zega Pros with mounting go for 850 with shipping…. I've seen the stock units going for 700-800…

At the time I was shopping, the least expensive setup was the Wendell Case (formerly Muffin Top) on the SW-Motech QR Racks. I had to add a T-shirt to the Twisted Throttle order to get free shipping (I was a penny short!), but all in I was about $600...

His website is still under construction, but you can reach him at wendell@wendellcase.com

I am not affiliated with his company in any manner, just a happy customer.

I think the best place to find and buy used luggage is on www.advrider.com in the flea market section. Good deals show up every now and then. I saw a post where one V2 Micatech 10" was posted as free + actual shipping cost. I took the offer, called Micatech (they were shutting down the operation last year) and was able to purchase another V2 case in a different color/finish. I painted them both with Rustoleum charcoal hammertone paint, and purchased a set of SW Motech racks/mounts for the Micatechs. The total savings for everything was around $500.00. I feel the bags are too big and wide for everyday use, but you can stuff a lot of gear for a trip in 45 liter bags. :)

One good thing about SW Motech racks is the ability to mounts several different brands of luggage with their mounting kits, whereas a brand like Givi are brand specific.
