Hey Riders of exceptional quality!
I have been studying the Super Tenere, and have decided it needs to be my next bike. I've been riding bikes for 45+ years, currently riding a Duc 848 Street Fighter, and a Triumph 675 Daytona. I want a bike I can ride anywhere comfortably. Problem: the prices on Cycle trader for Teneres in states other than California are much cheaper. Have any of you bought a Super Tenere in California for less than $11,999.00 plus tax and license? If so, where? I'm in Sacramento. Thanks for any help!

Yes. Last month, I bought a new 2013 for $11,300 + Tax & License (no freight/setup)
Feel free to send me a PM if you want to know the rundown of deals to be had in SoCal

PSX, don't hide the deals... share them. Sacramento is selling them for $1,200 more than you paid.

I know of three Tenere's that are in crates (were two days ago) at PCP Motorsports.

A few deals I know about:

* New 2012 (blue) , $12,000 out the door
* New 2012 (black), $12,500 out the door
* Demo 2013 (white), 1500 miles, $12,100 out the door

You MAY be able to get a new 2013 for my price, $11,300 before tax and license, $12,500 out the door, but I'm told that was the last bike they could do the deal on. Worth a try however.

Anyone interested in the above deals, contact me. It's not my place to post in public the dealers who I was able to negotiate the above deals with, as they're not advertised prices.

Thanks for the solid info. Will try again tomorrow to see if I can negotiate a good price for a great bike. I'll let you know tomorrow. Knowledge is power!

Archer, I am also in Sacramento. When I was first pricing the bikes I could see the big difference between California and the other states. Problem is if it is new you need a California (CARB) bike to register it. Used from another state is a different story.

As I recall the best deal I saw was from a dealer in Santa Clara, think it was GP Sports or something like that. Far and away the lowest price in 2011. I got mine form Chico Motorsports at a good price. Better than the three local dealers who did not even want to consider talking a lower than MSRP price. While I appreciate buying local I did not want to be a fool about paying full price if I did not have to

Thanks Toompine. I just completed a deal with PCP Motorsports in Sacramento late today for a new 2013 model. ::012:: "Sale" price of 11.6 K and change plus fees, 13,700 OTD. Maybe not pretty, but entirely factual. I'm content with the deal, and really looking forward to riding this adventure bike. There is some fantastic country to ride in close to Sacramento, and I want to ride it all! I looked online, contacted a few dealers, but PCP was the only one to deal staight with me from the beginning. I'm not slamming any of the other dealers, I am sure it is a difficult environment to make a profit these days. Now I begin the process of selling my 2013 Ducati Street Fighter 848, with 6,063 miles. Let me know if you know anyone wanting a thrilling ride that actually gets 50+mpg cruising on the freeway! I love the Duc, but it is not comfortable for my aewsome wife, and three bikes don't fit in my garage -- so it goes.

Hi archer. Also from Sacramento. A couple days after I rode the 2014 ES I spoke with Darren and the price of 2013's (not for me) came up. I suggested $11,500 and he said he needed to make some money. So I knew I was close to what they needed. At that time the Tenere's they had were still in the crate. Good to see you landed one of them and got it for a good price.
.Did you ask PCP if they wanted to buy your 848? They buy A LOT of used bikes.

BTW, there is a very small Tenere Tech Day on Sunday morning. PM me if you are interested.

Unfortunately, 49 state bikes are at least a thousand dollars cheaper. California really does drive me nuts. Who knew a charcoal canister could be so expensive? ::010:: On the other hand, I did pick up my bike tonight, and put about 30 miles on it in stop and go traffic. Loved it! Can't wait to get in the mountains. ::013::
