Just mounted a PR4 trail up front....what to run in the back??? Looking for miles....so PR4 trail, PR4 standard or Anakee III....??? I have run a set of PR4's before and a set of Anakee's didn't have issues with either.... Well the front Anakee wore funny....

BTW last set was Shinko's 700's hated the handling, tar snakes and painted lines.......

thanks in advance

I really like the handling and all weather capabilities of the standard PR4. I got about 6500miles out of my last rear. Agree with the 705's. I was a cheap skate and bought a pair for my Fall trip........I know they will hold the line but my confidence was always in question.....a little funny feeling to them at times if you will.

A guy I just did a long trip with had PR4's on his Connie and he wasn't very happy with them. Some tires are made for heavier bikes and so behave better as a result. I had PR3's on my Z1000 and loved them. I ended up going with the Bridgestone A40's...the stock battlewings treated me very well.

I've put over 10,000 km on a rear Anakee III this season. Short version: Melted my rear E07 in Cali on Hwy 36 in 39 C weather and the only tire I could find was the Anakee III.

Lots of peg dragging, loaded riding with plenty of gravel roads thrown in and I had 1 flat in all that time (sharp rock while offroading with over 9000 km on the tire). It still grips great in the wet (I'm in BC, it's wet a lot).

Didn't expect to like the tire, but would buy another in a heartbeat and head out for multiple weeks.

YMMV of course.

I did a 7,000 mile, all pavement, road trip last month. I mounted a brand new Anakee 3 on the recommendation that it would get at least 8000 miles in mileage. I had the stock Bridgestones on the bike and I was concerned it would not last through the trip. I really hate replacing tires on the road because of the costs and inconvenience.

After the 7,000 mile trip, I see that I should have at least another 1,000 safe miless left on the tire. I had no issues with the Anakee on wet or dry roads, and there were a lot of both. The tire will sing to you, but I wear earphones, so that was not an issue for me. I did leave the Bridgestone on the front.

I guess I need to add I am a 300+ pound rider and the bike was heavily loaded. I usually get a lot less mileage out of a rear tire than average size folks get.

I plan to put the stock Bridgestone back on to see how many miles I get out of it, but probably will end up going with the Anakee in the end.

I have over 8K on the OEM tires and there's still a fair amount of meat left but I do a lot of highway commuting so they are squaring off and I've done a few trips with very aggressive riding on pavement known to eat up tires. I'm actually pretty impressed with them overall - especially since the deathwings were such a travesty (I had low expectations).

The stock Bridgestones are gone. I'm going to try the Anakee 3 next. My wife has those in her F700 and she likes them. We are planning on going out West this Summer and I believe the Anakee 3 will do for this trip.
