My Tenere buddy and I rode our bikes to Romney in WV. He had new tires slapped on along with minor maintenance items. While I was there I got a chance to take one of those beasts out for a ride.

A much different ride than my Tiger 1050. Similar seating position. But a completely different riding experience. My tiger is in need of some new shoes, but it truly fell into the turns and the engine seemed to have a pulsing rhythm to in comparison to the smooth triple. Torque was excellent and the stock seat is firm (a plus in my book).

Now I just have o figure out the logistics to move towards potential ownership.

One quick question for you Tenere riders out there. On a long ride, does he pulsing come through the grips and numb the hands?

So far the bike has impressed me and I love the low maintenance aspect of it. I normally put on about 10 to 15k miles on my scoots each year.

The pulsing you feel is the 270 degree crank.
No, it does not intrude in any way and numb the hands, etc.
I just got back from an 8300 mile trip and had no issues whatsoever.
Say hello to Eric in Service for me. Top notch guy who took care of my Tenere service needs while on my trip.

You feel it at first bit it fades away eventually unless you are looking for it (IMHO). I hardly ever notice it anymore at all. No adverse effects, just the character of the motor.

I tend to suffer from numb hands even on Jap fours, I would say the Tenere is much better than the GS it replaced (OK, they do vibrate like a knackered washing machine) and a ZZR1400 which even with bar risers to reduce pressure on wrists I still got numb hands after an hour or so.

You should be OK, I also use a cruise control device (Go-Cruise thingy) which means I do not have to grip the throttle bar tightly to keep it open (which was the real problem - rarely had issues with left hand) and I can take the right hand off the bars for a rest now and again.

As twins go this is probably about as good as it gets ::008::

heh heh you're already a potential owner, you just may not know it yet.

I have no issues with the handlebars, etc. Welcome on, by the way. Let us know when you get the new Yamaha. It's no longer a matter of "if". Heh heh ::004:: R. ::022::

Thanks for the feedback. I received pricing from three different places on the Tenere. Two had great prices, the third, not so much.

If you look around, it appears you can get good deal on one. I just have to unload my Tiger first. It's a great bike, I just don't like the lack of a dealer network and high maintenance costs. Plus, I want to have something that could go off road a little easier than my Tiger and survive.

It appears I get a step closer every day. Still have some pieces to fall into place.

Got a good quote on a Super Tenere, now I need to know how they will value my trade. it is probably the biggest obsticle that I'm dealing with right now.

Has anyone gone from a Tiger 1050 to a S10? If so, what did you like, not like?

I have no doubt that you got a good price from Romney. What you might not know (or expect, at the price) is that they really look after their customers and are a genuinely nice bunch of guys. Plenty of people here will attest to that...
