I have noticed a slight stumble on first-gear acceleration. Keep in mind I have a California model, so I don't know if we got even more worked over on fuel maps than the 49 state model.
When taking off, it will sometimes delay and stumble like it is not getting enough fuel. Also, seems to have a rough patch around 3400 - 3600rpm. Anyone else have this or any insight here?

Maybe a PCV is going to be needed afterall.

In a week or so, I can comment ::). I'm told that the fuel map on my Versys was intentionally lean at low RPMs in order to meet 49 state emissions. My brother put a PCV and Autotune on his Versys and it turned out sweet. Eliminated low speed snatchy throttle and irregular pull up through about 3300 RPMs. Hmmmm.......sounds a little like what you've seen on your bike.

Not trying to sell PCV's, but also not sure yet what will be available for re-mapping these bikes other than the PCV.

I've got exactly the same issue at abbout 3.3K on a UK model, so I'm guessing it's not a californian issue.

I wonder if it would continue to do it with the traction control defeated just to eliminate that possibility
Mine does the same thing (may be just me) but it seems to be worse in TC1?

This must be a common trait with the Tenere,i notice it between 3000 and 3500 during acceleration but not at steady throttle. At first i thought it might be harmonics at that rpm, lean condition is better because it can be cured.Still love this Yamaha :)

I don't notice anything at low RPM'S taking off, but do feel and hear the rough patch about 3500, especially accelerating in high gear. It seems to be getting a bit better with miles, but sounds like it may be something that is inherent with the original mapping.

I haven't noticed anything stand out and just hit 100 miles. I will keep an eye and ear open for it but mine seems to run without issue.

Well, glad to hear thjat it is not just me. As we here from more that have done a PC V we will see if it takes care of it. Blue Eyes might be able to shed some light here as he has already done a PC V and custom map. I sent him an email about it.

Yes, there is a rough patch around 3500rpm. More noticeable when accelerating on an upward incline. I seem to recall that Blueyes touched on this by referring to a "resonance" at 3500rpm that he reported had been eliminated with PC5.

I'm not having any acceleration issues that I am aware of. I'll pay closer attention. R

Jeff,

Does the US bike have a "pair" valve?? My Euro spec shop manual doesn't show one. In Europe they don't use them, but do in the US in order to meet our draconian emissions laws. My Versys has one and it had to be disabled if you ran a can.

I wonder if that onboard CO adjustment will take care of that minor stumble. :lamp:

Good point. Anyone tried this yet? I am reluctant to jump into it on my own without guidance.

YCC-T with 3-stage traction control
The Super Ténéré features advanced Yamaha Chip-Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) technology with 3-stage traction control that can be turned off when it's time for a little rear-wheel steering in the dirt. The bike also has switchable Yamaha D-MODE engine mapping.
