Here's an older thread that may be what you're referring to, but it doesn't offer up much more info...has a pic though.

Saw the round hole of the thread that you mention but not it. directly under both the clutch and brake with housing is the mail end of a.two prong plug. tried a picture but odd location and the perspective makes the pic look non- obvious?

nothing was plugged into either but i found the female end tucked above the main wire to each housing.

just passed 1000 with no obvious issue.

the wire are.all different colors so trying to figure which wire to which prong.

Will consult service manual when i get home but someone might know...a little un serving to have wires not.connected!

Are you talking about the brake light switch on the front brake lever and the clutch lever interlock for starting the bike in gear? Does your brake light come on when you pull the front lever? Can you start your bike whilst in gear if you pull the clutch in?

Hey Fred I was hoping you'd see this as it sounds like you've put together your share of S10s. Didn't get home until late last night so no chance to check the service manual to figure out what the plugs are for. Will look today. The answer to your questions is I think so...can't honestly remember starting the bike in gear but figure i probably did? Always use both brakes when it counts so didn't notice any issue with the rear brake lights but do have the topbox on so that could have shielded it a little. Your guess at the function of the plugs was the same as mine but with all the electronics on this bike I wasn't entirely sure.

I would have just plugged them in but the female end of the plug is actuallly two individual plugs, they have different wire colors and are not exclusive to either of the male plugs so I figured it best to check the correct wire color for each plug. No evil came in the last 1000 miles so couldn't imagine another 60 getting me into too much trouble.

Thanks for the help.

Kudos to Fredz43 the plugs are indeed for the front brake switch and the clutch switch. Both are open/closed curcuits so orientation of plugs does not matter. Confirmed via service manual.

Note that I rode the bike about 1000 miles before noticing. Must not have started in gear (although will be confirming the operation of the switch) and must not have had a brake light when using front brake only.

If you haven't might want to check under each of the handlebar control gear housing to confirm your plugs are connected.

You might mention to your setup person that he/she forgot that important step. Also operation of those switches are listed on the post setup/test ride check lists that the setup person signs.
