Pillion Leg Room With Yamaha Panniers

I am interested in buying the Yamaha panniers but am curious if anyone can share their pillion's thought about the leg room. The panniers sit up high on the bike which is a good thing, but it also looks like they could hamper leg room at the top just behind the foot pegs where the back of the passengers leg can hit or rest on the top edge (not good). Does anyone have some pillion feedback about leg room?

Thanks for the help...

my girlfrienddoesn't have any issues with them. Her son on the other hand has said that they point him in the legs ( he is still a little too smal though and doesn't fit on the bike quite right).

I've got my Jesse's all the way forward, you couldn't put your feet on my passenger pegs if you wanted to.

My wife is 6' 3" tall and wears a size 12 boot, so if she can sit comfortably without obstruction from the Yamaha panniers, I reckon most pillions can. ;D

Happy Trail Tetons here too. (They mount high also. I like that)

Wife has long legs. OEM passenger pegs had no clearance problems with panniers. But like mention just above, her boot tips would strafe my calf.

I added FJR peg farkle to her pegs. The lower them and move them forward. She loves it. What I wasn't expecting was they also moved them outboard, thus her boots don't touch me now. Very happy.

Here are the OEM bags with a passanger on.
Thanks for posting the picture. It looks like they are set back enough providing plenty of room. Good stuff.

Appreciate all the input.

Timely thread Alsoran I've just gotten the misses on the back of mine. My bro in law has the Yamaha panniers and his wife likes to ride pillion. Bags don't bother her a bit and she is used to riding a Ultra Classic. I'm curious Snakebitten where does one get the FJR farkle peg? Is it a custom piece? My wife would like less bend in her knees.

Thanks to another forum member for pointing me to them. (Cinco???)

There is a thread back a few pages about them. Something called "lowering passenger pegs"

My GF has said that the foot room is not very good with the OEM bags on. Part of that maybe that I ride on the balls of my feet so my feet are moved back on the peg, leaving her less room. Without the bags, she has no problem, but when the bags are on, it is not very comfortable for her. Fortunately she rides her own bike most of the time. She only rides pillion occasionally and it is only for short distances like to a bike night.
