Does the 23 really still come with the 3 lock tumblers? I looked under the seat of a new bike in the showroom and there were no locks, maybe no longer supplied now that the Shad/Yamaha boxes are obsolete. I asked the dealer and he told me the tumblers are now provided only with the current style boxes, and the dealer has to key them to match the bike.
I just checked my take off/spare box for my 2023 S10 which did come with the extra three lock set keyed to my ignition.

My '23 I bought about 3 mos ago had the lock tumblers. Salesman also told me it is required that the bike be test run, so at least you have the confidence it won't fall apart on the around the block ride.

Man I'm confused about these lock tumblers for side cases and top boxes. The '23 Ténéré I'm picking up doesn't come with any luggage. What am I missing here???
None of the S10s did……but the older OEM boxes and the new set up from Yamaha require matching lock sets…..thus the three spares that come with the bike. Everything will use the same keys if you buy the Yamaha OEM luggage.

Thanks! Now if I can just find the right luggage to use on this new bike. So many options....

Definitely get down there and check the bike over well. Checking most visible fasteners for "finger tightness" is not a bad idea.
On my 2016 Tenere, it was missing a front brake caliper bolt!!! Found that a few days after I picked it up!
On my 2023, ALL the fasteners holding the lower chin fairing in place were loose, and one was gone when I got it home. Also, the muffler was mounted to the smaller machined end of the hanger bolt, the part that holds the muffler sheild on.
I immediately went over the entire bike before I rode it any further. So far so good.

Notmally, what comes off the manufacturing line comes out well...the problem is usually the unpacking, and the subsequent assembly by “unknown” hands...
In the box, the bike usually come without the front wheel, without the windshield, without the mirrors ….it may be that you find with a bad tightening in this items…. in excess or in defect….
