Just picked up this beast this morning! I imported it from Edmonton to Toronto. Most Americans will never have seen or heard of this bike as it was never for sale in the US. It’s a 2007 Yamaha MT-01, the grandfather of all MT bikes. It features a 1700cc V-TWIN engine derived from a Roadstar Warrior stuffed into the frame of a Sport bike and takes the suspension and brakes from the R1.

It is an absolutely unbelievable machine.

Love it! I had one in silver in the UK, it replaced my Suzuki TL1000, much tamer than the TL, but awesome machine, sadly I only rode it for about 1000 miles.............

The entire useable powerband is between 2000 and 3500, you never have to rev higher. It’s a completely different experience that I’ve never had on Any other bike. 5500rpm redline!

Yamaha's version of the H-D XR 1200. Much better version. I like it! ::26::

I was looking at those when my Buell was starting to go tits up. Could not figure out how to import it into the USA. It’s got to be fun to ride.

You can't import these into the USA as far as I know. I say that because my brother (who refused to sell me his) has an MT-01 sitting in his garage in North Carolina that he has not rode or even turned on in 5 years because he can't get it registered there either. It's literally just rotting away for years. Decided to just get my own and enjoy it up here in beautiful Canada!

It most definitely is a fun ride. I've owned a dozen bikes in my life and this is the most unique sounding and feeling motorcycle out of any that I've ever had the pleasure of riding or owning. It has such a deep rumbly engine and a unique grunt sound that completely defies anything that your familiar with, the torque delivery is unwordly with 110lb at just about 2750-3000 RPM, it redlines at 5500

Sound like your brother just needs a title for a Yamaha Warrior and slap the plate on the MT. Who would know the difference unless you have emission testing there? I have been pulled over enough to know that LEO never check the VIN to the registration.

And you don't want to insure it. My insurance company has always verified VINs on all of my vehicles.
