On my 'Strom, pre-Caribou Cases, I purchased a product that kept my soft luggage out of the wheel on the exhaust off-side.

On the XTZ, I found that flipping the right passenger grab-rail upside down accomplishes the same thing, for only the cost of one large diameter nut used as a spacer between the rail and the mount surface on the rear bolt. Now the Ortliebs stay out of harm's way. :)

Here are some pics.

You won't even need to spend for the nut if you mount the left grab bar on the right side.
Leave the left without a bar.
Protect the finish of the muffler cover.

Hi Checks,

I had tried the left grab rail on the right but was not as pleased with the reverse angle it gave.

You're correct about protecting the muffler cover, I do that with paint protection film and silver duct tape; the odd shape of the grab rail has me using duct tape wrap there, until I figure out a more elegant solution.

Thanks,
- Mike
