I know I'm not the first (see this old thread) to mount a Pelican 1150 case as a tank case but I think I may be the first to do so utilizing the Hepco & Becker magnetic Lock-It tank ring.

I used this specific kit which includes the tank ring and the bag mount. As you can see from the pictures below the bag mount looks like it was made for the Pelican 1150. Even the plastics are a very close match.

The Lock-It system works great. The magnets are strong and the case practically jumps into place once it gets close.

See my YouTube video to see the system in action.

Installation was a snap:

Put the bike on its center stand

Mount the tank ring to the bike

Mount the bag mount on the tank ring

Rest the case on top of bag mount

Pull the handlebars in to full stop on both the left and right making sure the case clears all controls

Once you're happy with the placement of the case mark the position of the bag mount on the case

Remove the bag mount from the tank ring and tape it (or clamp) it in place on the bottom of the case matching the position you marked in the previous step

Drill through the four mounting holes in the bag mount into and through the case

Clean any plastic burs away from the holes in the case

Mount the bag mount to the case, I used stainless M5x12mm bolts, washers and nylon lock nuts. These were "just" long enough. Slightly longer bolts wouldn't hurt.
I still need to do a water tightness test and may need/want to add a touch of black silicone caulk to each hole.

SKB Case that should also work well for this application

Quick update. I submersed the lower half of the box in water for 30 minutes and no leaks.
