I need some boxes...........
1) need some volume. The wife is always with me...she is a minimalist but never the less she takes up space.
2) they must be able to take a fall without turning into an accordian
3) I had the OEM BMW on my 1200GSA and hated the cheesey latches on the short side dimension....seemed like it was going to break off...although never did.

OEM stuff seems small on volume but reasonably priced ....... actually I have never seen in person so how the hell would I know?
I really like the Jesse bags $$$$$$$$$ but seem worth it......?

Comments ....advise......appreciated....thanks for your time

I have the OEM panniers and a Jesse top box. The difference in, well, everything is extreme. I would not recommend the OEM stuff for the lock difficulties alone. I will say that you can drop the bike on the OEM's and they take a beating well. Limey dropped his S10 on his Jesse panniers pretty hard in the Yukon and they stood up well. Lots of room the the Jesse's. To do over again I would have Jesse panniers as well. Micatech was another good option but I dunno what happened to them.

I have jesse panniers and top box , I have dropped the bike several times and nothing but a small dent and scratches were the result , easy to remove and I love the hinges and locks , all very durable and easy to work with. I cracked the rack that top box mounts to , jesse promptly sent me replacement ,no questions asked . there customer service has been awesome ! I have the 10 inch odyssey boxes and have plenty of room for me and the wife , lots of other sizes available . I would not hesitate to buy them again . they also sometimes have scratch and dents to save some cash.

Thanks for the responses
Geetee ...I had HB on a 990 Adv and went down on gravel....broke the hinge lock to the frame mount on one side, which has kind of soured me on them. One accident may not be a good judge of things or maybe bad luck. my latches to hold the lids were starting to crack over time don't know if they have moved to steel latches or still with the plastic tabs. Got to say they look great on your bike. going to revisit them before I make a decision. I have a white bike also......really like it, much to my surprise.
I also like the Mule paniers from England. there is one importer here in USA. they are also rather pricey and the latch mechanism seems a little strange. I go down thru the list of manufacturers and it is rather over whelming on which to chose.

I have the OEM all around... Have yet to drop the bike on them, but we've gone 2 up camping without an issue. I'm pretty happy for the money, no real complaints with the hardware, I wish the top box was bigger but I will probably switch to a rack and soft bag for longer trips / camping in the future.

I have TT Zega Pro's, very happy with them. Instead of a top box I run a Wolfman rear and pillion rack. Lots of room for gear and duffle on top.

Here it is unloaded

I went with the oem's and fill in with Kriega bags. For the thrashing that the oem's seem to take in the forums that all could be easily countered with a little blue Loctite, occasional cleaning, and a shot of graphite lube. They've never let me down and my ride sees a bit of everything, although it hasn't taken a nap with them. Good luck with your choice.

I have the Pelican Storms from Twisted Throttle. I hear tell they hold the bike off the ground just fine. Both sides. Won't fit a helmet, but they are big and hold a ton.

I use a few different sizes / styles of horizontal opening dry bags on top, depending on how long out and time of year, what variety of gear I need. Hold it on with a couple ROK straps and it comes right off.
