Evening, has anyone seen any options yet on paint / panel protection. I'v seen the products you can cut to shape yourself but would be interested in a pre cut set.
If anyone's gonna do it ... it'll be 'Venture Shield' ... I've got that on the FJR.MortiisMachine said:.... seen any options yet on paint / panel protection ...
great news, keep me posted with any updatesSpeedStar said:I will be making something once I get my bike to make the templates from. I make these for the V-Strom and they have been very popular. I have a few things in mind and will be offering these as soon as I can.
I look forward to the updates..SpeedStar said:I will. I plan to get these done as soon as I get the bike. I have a number of potential ideas.
I have used his kits on several bikes. The standard tankslapper material can be removed and reapplied and offer limted protection. The optional 3M kits offer more permanent protection and are not meant to be removed and reapplied. My local dealer uses the removable tankslapper material on saddlebags of some sport touring bikes in the showroom, as customers tend to scrape the lids with their shoes as they swing a leg over. For customers who buy bikes and want more durable semi permanent protection, they do custom installation of 3M material. It has been my experience in doing business with Tankslapper that paying a little more for the 3M material is money well spent.fjr1300 said:Tank Slapper is another company. They make kits, bike specific. The 3M film can be removed and re-applied.

Did you have the original tankslapper material or their 3M kit? The 3M won't come off until you makean effort to take it off, and it is then not reusable and will not damage the surface. I think the 3M is great stuff and you can buy it in bulk. The standard tankslapper stuff isn't worth the time or $$ in my opinion.SpeedStar said:Mine will be a permanent solution that will not come off unless you choose to take it off. Then, it will come off clean without damaging the surface.
I had the tankslapper product before and did not have results that I wanted from it. YMMV.
That sounds like great stuff, Devin. I'll probably put some of my spare 3M pieces on the sides of my tank to protect it until you get your kit in production. I already have the Tenere guy tank pad.SpeedStar said:I use a heavy 12Mil thick material with 3M adhesive backing. The same as all the good vinyl graphics companies. It holds up great to abuse and goes on very easy with no bubbles.
Sounds good Fredz43. I will be on it as soon as I get my bike.fredz43 said:That sounds like great stuff, Devin. I'll probably put some of my spare 3M pieces on the sides of my tank to protect it until you get your kit in production. I already have the Tenere guy tank pad.
I have these on my FJR and am very pleased. I also ordered the un-cut sheets and made my own for my KLR. Worked great!mobyfubar said:I've got the TechSpec Gripster pads on my Street Triple and like them. On the other hand, I haven't used anything else so don't have a comparison. SpeedStar, what kind of material do you use?
SpeedStar am I correct in thinking that your be making pre cut kits for the Super Ten?SpeedStar said:Sounds good Fredz43. I will be on it as soon as I get my bike.
