When I went to South St Paul to see the S10 last Wednesday, a customer drove a used R1 home after purchase. It was 39 degrees and a light mist. We're tough up here.
I remember doing something like this Jan 11, 2003 in SE Michigan buying my new Honda ST1300A. IT was 19 degrees out and I had a 90 mile drive home back to Ohio. The dealer thought i was absolutely crazy!!! The roads were dry, but it was dropping snow flakes. The dealer didn't believe I was riding home and needed to physically call and talk to my insurance company before letting me take it. It was a saturday, so this was even harder. I had my electrics, and a smile that could of warmed the earth. I felt like a kid on Christmas Morning riding home with the girlfriend and my buddy in the car following me thinking too how nutty I must be!!!

Madison Motorcycle Club, Madison, WI has an annual New Years Day Ride. I've never made it, always snowmobiling somewhere.

I made a similar trek from the Minneapolis/St Paul area in October of 2006 after buying a used DL1000 out there. When I got up that morning, there was light snow and around 30 degrees. When I rolled out for my trip back to Colorado, it had stopped snowing, but the temps had dropped some. By the time I made my first gas stop, I could hardly work the gas pump. By later that day as I worked south, it FINALLY got a little warmer. No electrics (never have owned any), but I did have heated grips.

hey swagger, how tallare you? more to the point what is your inseam measurement? in the picture of you stopped it looks like you are far from being able to flat foot your landing gear.

for you guys talking cold, my harley has been in the shed for over three months and we have had temps near -40c and won't have riding weather until early to mid May

here is a picture of my winter Yamaha ride

^^ That sled looks slick. 8) I had snowmobiles when I was a kid back in the early-mid seventies. They looked nothing like that one back then and they really weren’t very fast...basically something to do while waiting for the snow to melt so I could drag the dirt bikes out.

5' 9", 31" inside leg. Can't flat foot the Tenere ... but mine's set on the taller of the seat settings ... just prefer it that way.

You have a point. I am 5-10 and a bit, but prefer the comfort with the seat in the high location even if I have to lose ability to flat foot. I think it's due to having straighter leg angle which feels much better on the knees.

Hey twitch, thanks for the props that sled is one of a kind. I seriously modified a utility type sled to get exactly what I wanted. nothing like the sleds I rode 40 years ago either.

Sorry to hear of all the chils you guys are havin. my wife & I took a little run up "Volcan Baru" to hang with our friend that bought Manuel Noriega's Mountain estate. (the Panamanian version of Camp David, US) All pavement 'till 'bout 5 km before "Finca La Pagoda" . We've been ichin to try out our new Aerostich Road crafter jackets. I must say that they were very comfy, (every vent possible was open) even here in the Tropics. My little Honda Transalp with 76k is still hangin in 'till we take delivery on our new S10 in Feb. Once all the accessories arrive for the S10, we'll be heading North for a 2 or 3 mo tour thru the US & BC. More later, GP

Motopan, the offer to stop in for a beer or whatever is open if you pass through Seattle area on way to BC. It is beautiful.
