Sheesh ... how cold was that. Heated clothing on still got cold. But hey ... it don't matter I was riding the XT ;D

So here it is on a cold Sunday afternoon .... had me support vehicle with me too ;) Missus took the Land Rover down the green lanes following me. How cool is that.

What I learned today.... again.

Stopped at an uphill inclined junction with sloping camber to the left ... put my left foot down .... and nothing ... seemed like the ashphalt was miles away. Nearly dropped the bike ... it just got to the point of no return. These things really ARE bigger and heavier than you think.

Did the old stupid trick of stopping on dirt with the incline dropping away to the left and the bike facing downhill and into oblivion. You can't come back from that ::) The ground wouldn't support the weight of the sidestand. A very quick get off was in order. Did it and got lucky. Kept the puppy upright. :) More caution required. Both of these events are OK on lighter dirt bikes ... trouble is you forget the weight of the XT.

Both schoolboy errors ... that nearly caught me out. Rest of it was brilliant ... bike got plastered ;D Took a while with the jet wash to bring back to perfect.

I thought I just replyed to this but it's lost so I'll try again
Sounds great to be riding
I was thinking of getting a bike out too. It's below freezing and ice here and there though.

Nice! I am glad you didn't drop it. That would have messed up a nice day.
I got out yesterday and went up into my local mountains to the snow. I had a few scares too. Nothing to report though.

I almost went for a ride on Friday, but there was so much salt piled on the roads I stayed in. I didn't feel like washing after the ride. Today it rained, so if we get one more nice day above 40 degrees I'm going for a spin. Much needed...

No signs of a pause in the winter here. Still well below zero with lots of snow. Snow in the forecast for all of this week. Been up on the roof of the house three times this winter and have removed upward of 20 tons of snow from the roof, 2m high walls of snow around the house. Might fit my heated grips this week if I can succeed in getting the garage heated to above 0C.

with no bike in the garage, a baby that wont come out and a garage that needs some cabinets and a work bench, I made a work bench yesterday and today. I also made a wall of shelves today. I can post pics later for the shelves.

Hmmm, would this be considered "nesting"? ;D

Well still have a bike in the shed, but too cold and too much snow/sand/ice on the roads to ride - so all I can do is look at the empty spot in my shed where my SuperT WILL be parked come May!!! Oh yes, I also added a countdown app to my Droid for when I can expect delivery of my new SuperT!! 131 days (assuming mid-May)!!!!

When you live where there is snow and ice, you have other toys for that time. We were fine here, record broke from December, 1898, 22 inches of snow. We were out twice snowmobiling and then December 30, we received 2 inches of rain and then below freezing temps. Trails are all ice and snow is hard as a rock. So on Sunday I took the groomer out and broke up the ice and frozen snow for 10 hours. Hey, I was bored.

That weather sounds brutal.

I had to suffer 65 degree F temps on a 175 mi. ride up to visit some friends over the weekend. It got cold at night though: 50 degrees F. I'm glad I had my mesh jacket with me or I would have frozen to death.

Venture, you are correct. I am making a nest for my new addition coming in May!!! It is also a part of me being retentive about organization and tightiness on shelves and drawers. I have consumed 10 of 15 sheets of 4'x8' plywood making shelves from floor to ceiling to maximize space and storage. Without spending the major money, I want as close to magazine picture looking garage organized. I have spent at least 40 hours out in the garage just to get that part started. I am using time wisely since we are now set to induce labor Jan 5th. My time will then be limited.

Your right. I am not really prepared. Central and southern Sweden has been relatively mild for the past twenty years, but the winters have really kicked in over the past couple of years. Last year broke records and now this December has been the coldest since records began, 17xx or something. And here we are still investing in new 1200cc internal combustion engines... ???

When I went to South St Paul to see the S10 last Wednesday, a customer drove a used R1 home after purchase. It was 39 degrees and a light mist. We're tough up here.
