Hello Folks,

I've had my ST10 for all of two weeks now and it's farkled and ready to go. I'm interested in meeting up with other riders. My last bike was an ST1100 and I was able to meet other riders on different trips all over the country. I'm retired with plenty of time for riding. I'm thinking about heading down 101 to southern Oregon over the weekend or next week depending on the weather.

It seems like the guys in Washington get together once a month. Perhaps we could do the same here in Oregon on non-competing weekends. I did the OBCDR a few years ago on a KLR and would be interested in doing parts of that again as well as routes in other states. I'm also up for on-road trips to anywhere fun.

I have a large shop in Sandy with plenty of room for tech events. I know from other groups that making friends is the most important valued added aspect of any kind of recreation. I hope to meet some of you soon. Anyone want to ride to southern Oregon down the coast?

;-) Paul

Happy to ride Paul. Lot's of folks in our area, I think the best thing to do is post up when your planning something and see who bites. Day trips on the weekend often work for me, longer stuff is harder for me to plan. For the coast this weekend and next, keep in mind it's spring break. I think that's more of an issue north than south, but you may run into more outbound traffic than usual depending on when you leave. I've got Saturday plans with the family, otherwise I'd tag along.

Nice ride this afternoon to the Ripplebrook Ranger Station, following the Clackamas river on Hwy 224. No traffic, lots of sweeping turns. Picked up some forest service maps. https://goo.gl/maps/u8Pio

Hi Paul,
Nice looking rig, love the Jesse's. I recently did an early retirement and would love to do some rides. Unfortunately I have a lot on my plate right now with two homes to sort out (one in Bend) and a trip to SE Asia in April, but hopefully later this Spring or early Summer.

Cheers,
John

The Washington guys want to come down next month for our monthly get together. May 10/11are the dates. Hoping for an overnighter. Murray wants to be involved too and lives in Vancouver. Open to suggestions on routes. PNW Tenere group on Facebook is also a great place to get support for rides. We have 70+ members and a good portion of them are in your area.

May 11th is Mother's Day.

I'd be able to make this and even host folks at our home here in Sandy, OR as a base camp for some nice rides around the Clackamas river and Mt. Hood on either the weekend before or after that weekend, May 4th or May 18th.

The shop has room on the first floor for several bikes if you wanted to do some wrenching. I'd love to have someone help me sync my carbs and adjust my front forks to stop nose diving when braking. Even though my bike is new to me with only 1100 miles, I can feel the off-idle stumble and would like to address that. Hoping that syncing the carbs will help.

The shop is heated, with a bathroom and you can crash upstairs with sleeping bags and pads, lots of room. Sounds crazy but there's also a sauna with shower out in the woods next to the shop. There are fire roads all over this area. We just moved here in October so I'm still exploring but it would be easy to plan some nice rides.

If I can't make this one, I'll be sure to make others. It's always more fun riding with friends. I learned early on to surround myself with people where smarter than me.

Carbs? Surely you jest. "Fuel Delivery Fuel Injection with YCC-T", unless you know something I don't. I've heard that an "ECU flash" can fix this and other issues, but that's about the wealth of my knowledge on that subject.

As for riding, this weekend is particularly bad for me. Momma is outta town with the girls so I'm on Daddy daycare duty. Pray for melting snow, the low snow pack should help uncover some of those more fun to ride places quicker, if we're lucky.

We can do the sync in parallel, it scales really well. 30 minutes for 1, 31 minutes for 2, ....

I did mine at 4k miles because the schedule called for it, and it smoothed things out a bit. I did not change the reference body like suggested here on mine. I don't have an off idle stumble, and am happy with the fueling.

I'll figure out some options for when shortly, and let you guys know.,

I've only got 300 miles on mine, not nearly enough to know what issues I have. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, although I did get her dirty for the first time yesterday after work out by old Roslyn lake and it felt good, other than the new K60s needing to be scuffed up a bit more (slick).

Wow Paul, what hospitality! You've definitely got some great roads out that way; I wonder what the snow level will be like then?

From your house, Paul, SE Marmot Road to Barlow to E Lolo Pass (gravel, 4,000ft+) to Lost Lake, could be a good start for a ride… Then on to the roads East of Hwy 35: (Dufur Mill) toward the Tygh Valley and beyond? I'm guessing Kevin might be able to stitch together a good selection of dirt for us in the area.

For a quick return West, I know Hwy 216 (Shears Bridge Highway) and NF-48/White River Road are good, fun, scenic roads.

P.S. Too bad I just paid for a throttle synch at Beaverton Moto! :-[

We talked about plans for hosting some Washington riders in Oregon for a May meetup. The weekend of May 17-18 would be best for me. I'll be out of town the weekends before and after.

Our house is in Sandy which is close to lots of good roads, both paved and forest roads. We have a big shop with sleeping room upstairs as well as a bathroom and sauna with shower so camping here Fri and/or Sat nights would be easy. It might work well to plan a 12 noon departure from Sandy for an afternoon of rides and return for dinner. I have a BBQ and folks can bring their own meat and/or pick stuff up at the local Safeway just a few blocks away.

Some ideas to toss out there for a Friday night - Saturday AM tech sessions:
* If someone has a tire changer, we could host a tire change workshop
* Throttle body sync - I hear this isn't hard to do and I'd like to learn how?
* Suspension setups - I missed the WA session last month and I'm sure my bike needs help in this area.

Mtbjay posted some ideas for routes. I'll try to check those out and get some maps linked for folks to see. There were 20+ STs at the Olympic Forest ride in April. Let's see if we can do them one better!

If you still want to ride down the coast, we're here in Brookings. Pair of ST's, large shop, guest room plus floor space, camping space, plus... Plenty of riding to be done around here. Weeks worth of it.

If the May ride at your place becomes final, we might head up. I need to do a valve check, lube swing arm and steering head. All of that is a little over my head, but if there is a gathering of know how and tools that would be attractive. I was just going to take it in for it's recall and get all of that done too. But I could stand to save the money and learn something new.

Our ride is still on( the Washington guys heading south) , The Oregon guys can meet us in Vernonia about 11:30/11:45 on Saturday the 10th for lunch at the blue house cafe. We are heading thru the forest to Tillamook then back up to Forest Grove and the Grand Lodge. The one w/the 95 F soaking pool ;D As of friday, they had 30 open rooms. Looks like "Twisties" has some options ;-)
A few have made reservations already.
