There's a California Highway Patrol website someplace on www.ca.gov. All you do is plug in the hiway number and it tells you the conditions. I'm sure 80 is open, and 50 ought to be fine. I don't know about the others.

The Modesto Bee reported this morning Highway 4: Ebetts Pass and Highway 108: Sonora Pass are now opened.

Damn! I was a week early! Just another excuse to do it again.

If you like to ride twisties, Sonora Pass is the one, trust me. It's a rollercoaster. Ebbetts a close second.

Roger that. After my ride last week I plan to do them all.

88 gets my vote. From Jackson to Woodfords it doesn't stop. 4 is up there too, just because the narrow, no shoulder, serious drop off, death defying route East bound is such a breath taking experience. It links easily with 89 East (South?) bound for some serious vistas. 108 just goes on and on. Serious fun overload. And the northern most day trip is 70 over the top.
49 to it's northern terminus is incredible too... go to 89 and turn around. Two completely different rides. I'll do the 49 route with you. Been needing to get up there again.
LOL, I guess it's easier to just pick a number and go. Can't go wrong.

That was the conclusion my bro and I came to. We kept saying, "we're so lucky we turned down this road." Then we came to realize it didn't matter what road we took. Each road was better than the last. Like I said before, you guys who live in central California got it good.
