Man, I really tried, I tried to steer away from buying another DL 650. I just lasted 18 days since I sold mine and bought another. After getting the news from mama yama about the delay, I needed something to ride for the Summer. I went back to the tried and true. Got a 05 DL 650 from a friend of a friend. Rode it home tonight about 40 miles and she rode great in high speed traffic. Can't wait to get it out on the backroads Sunday/ Saturday. The used bike dealers did not want to budge on price (even with cash sales). To bad, I just got frustrated, and walked out 3 times from 3 different places. Got lucky, and scored this gem.

Congrats on the new temporary fill-in. I have the same bike in my garage too. She will serve you well, as you know.

Thanks, and I am not selling it any time soon. I learned my lesson, now for that seat...

That's shocking. I didn't know the V-Strom was a hot bike right now. ???

Seriously, wasn't it Suzuki who skipped an entire model year (2010 I believe) because of excessive stock? Perhaps that worked...

you are correct, Suzuki did skip one year, and still, in this area they are hard to find. There are 2 groups of guys here that have started new businesses buying used bikes, and they OWN craigs list, they buy all cash, and resell at full retail plus. They finance to people that can't afford new, and they are working 14 hours a day. Excellent business idea! Bad for those looking for bikes (cash) cheap.

Congrats on the bike Clem. Judging by some of the prices I’m seeing, it seems that it’s quite a seller’s market around here in Tampa at the moment…right while I was looking for a little dual sport. Gas prices, summer, I guess.

I know what you mean about old habits: there's a lot of things I can't seem to pass up. Nice bike! I considered selling some stuff to make way for the S10, really glad I didn't now. Enjoy the new (to you) bike.

There are two operations that are buying everything up (Tampa bay) that I know of, leading to very high retail pricing. Bad for cash buyers.

Congrats Clem! If I didn't still have my FJR in the stable, I would probably be out shopping for either a V-Strom or a Versys.

Yamagal59 suggested I thin outnthe herd for the arrival of new blue, but I just couldn't bring myself to part with good stuff for low bucks, so they stayed, ready for another winter of shivering innthe shed.
What part of Maine? I used to live in Machias.

Thats way North, I return to Lewiston in the Summers and have a large family there to visit with. I hate the cold, so Florida was the choice. I should have kept my bikes and been patient, but instead a lesson learned.
