Fine, fine, you leave me no choice but to join in here...
Once got a Cadillac CTS rental - 3.6 litre model with direct injection - let me tell you, I was blown away by that car. It had been ages since I'd even bothered setting foot inside a GM product. The ones my folks had were garbage. (Grand Am and Grand Prix, though I should say, there were both fine coupes to have access to in high school...LOL)
Fast forward a few years...
Riding the FJR home one night two days before Christmas, it occurred to me in the rain that not only were none of the drivers around me paying any attention, but that that overpass I just rode over was frosted...might be time for a second car.
4 days later, the BMW Z4 came home - the perfect second car for commuting...LOL
A month ago, I suggested I might sell the BMW to buy a Porsche, and my wife suggested that we keep the BMW (she loves it) and maybe I could swap motorcycles as often as I liked...LOL
Out goes the FJR, in comes the Tenere.
Now the question is...will we add another car to the garage and punt the Jetta to the driveway?
Porsches are nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm a car guy, so many different things catch my eye...
Corvette (C5 models)
BOSS Mustang (new ones)
Cayman S
BMW 850i
...and who knows what else.
I'd kill to have a Porsche Speedster, but unless I have one modified, I simply don't fit - the car is too short in the legs for me. There is a shop in California, though, that I recently came across, who adjusts these cars for the longer of inseam AND swaps in a Subaru flat four and 5 speed transmission to increase power and reliability. Me, I just always like the growl of a flat 4/6 engine.
Who knows what life will bring next. Might see us selling everything, or if I'm really fortunate, adding another ride to the stable.
Then again, I've had it in my head that I want to buy some land - 10 acres or so, and set up a series of trails so I can go riding on my own land whenever I choose. It would be nice to have a place to go camping and hold gatherings for friends on the weekends. Washington Is a beautiful state and there is lots of land around... we shall see...
