I am looking at the dimensions of the various oil filter choices that Dallara has so kindly posted and see that stock is 2.5. I have an Altrider skid on.....seems like the plate has to be dropped in front to change filter? Is that a correct assumption or am I missing a trick?

I managed a no-filter oil change with the Altrider skidplate, but the time it took to clean up the mess would have been better spent unbolting and rebolting the skidplate.

there's 1/4-3/8" for the stock yamaha filter to clear the alt rider.
done many times, drain the oil out of both drain plugs first (leave the bike on side stand, not the centerstand)
Do the filter last. Not that bad at all.

Just an FYI...but if you go with the standard OEM filter (5gh-13440-20) it's gonna be a tight fit against the Altrider plate. The 5gh-13440-50 is much shorter and leaves a lot more space between the filter and skid plate.

Could I ask EJV of the post showing the mod on the altrider skid plate to share details of how he installed those nut/brackets..how to determine exactly where in the slots to anchor them..what are they called...where to get them?

I could tell you.......but then..... ::025::

I forget. (I just dug the stuff out.)

I had everything "bolted together" then, used a sharpie to mark where the nut plates were (rough). Once I took it apart, no prob. Centered the tabs, drilled tiny holes and popped them in. I could only find the nut plates in NOT metric, so, new bolts. Uses the same AltRider Washer things. I hogged out the left front brace to the "larger nut plates". (I should have hunted for smaller ones, nah, project got done.)
