Ha! I created a 'filter' for 'never send to Spam'. It puts a colored bar across the top of the email notification that says ' this email was not sent to Spam because of a filter, for more info click here'. But everything went to Inbox this morning. I wonder if there's a 'hide' button...
Ok, I tried that. Had to look up how to create a filter in gmail, but easy once you find where they hide that. Time will tell if that works.

I put the forum in my contacts, but the notification emails still go to my spam file.

Looking deeper found this under the "learn more" link.
I don't really understand the above. Just find it odd that it changed overnight and a bit annoying.
Gmail is still marking them this way. Webmaster needs to do the following

-create an spf record
-create a DKIM key
-create a DMARC record

these are all easy to do but sound intimidating. The DNS record shows that the dns name is using Google Apps for its mail/hosting and exchange (see report at the url below if interested). So the SPF record should be added to DNS as type TXT with a value "v=spf1 ip4:96.126.123.205 include:_spf.google.com ~all" where 96.126.123.205 appears to be the IP address the forum is hosted on and b/c the forum s/w sends email in addition to Google Apps. This record tells the rest of the email world that Google Apps and the forum server are legit to send email on behalf of the domain.

Adding a DKIM and DMARC record are similarly easy. Venture - if you want to PM me I can help you do this - just did it this week for another domain hosted with Google Apps and it only takes about 15 minutes start to finish.

For gmail I had to create a filter to get the forum email to not get marked as spam. As was noted by someone their seems to be an issue with certificate or email address used by the forum for sending. That was months ago. More recently I have noticed that notifications are sporadic for threads and folders I have marked as "watch" and pretty much non-existent for threads I have replied to.

A bit off topic but still a technical issue, has anyone had problems using the text edit features when you post?
None of the features (text size, color, etc. and the cute little funny faces) seem to work.
Any suggestions? -JEP-

Ok, several Notifications this morning. Some bounced off the email filter I've had in place since we lost them, the rest came straight through. Weird. It's nice to have them back. Thanks guys.

Test......TEST.....TeSt :D

That's the problem! :)
I'm using Microsoft Edge as I had to change to accommodate changes to a photo site I use.
I tried editing on my old browser and everything works fine! -JEP-

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but is it possible for the notifications to include the a URL for each topic? Currently the daily digest notification just include a list of topics in plain text.

I've never tried the digest mode. The real time notifications have live url links for the topic, and to unsub from that topic.
