I don't like keys flopping around up there so I use one of these:

https://store.bobsbmw.com/product/bmw-motorrad-key-case

Small and works great to hold other keys and a small flashlight in the zipped up case with only the ignition key exposed. I have the black one. Unfortunately looks like only the powder blue is available now. Took me a while to find a case I liked but this one is perfect.

Interesting, I might have to look around and see if I can find something like that. My keys don't "normally" bounce around that much, although them just vibrating in place I'm sure leaves marks. It used to just be my bike key, but then I got a top box, then I got the RAM Lock, and then my disk lock.... Guess I could just store the RAM/Disk lock key in my top box..

I used to keep my top box key in the key holder but got tired of having to turn the bike off to open the case. Now I carry a key ring in my pocket with my house key and top box key and only have the bike key on the key holder with the little LED flashlight inside. I would carry the bike key by itself but a solo key is too easy to lose.

2014+ rubber dampened riser flexed somewhere along the way, opened up a gap just when the key vibrated into place. Perfect storm. :(

I use the plunger style 2 piece key rings:

I only keep the ignition key and pannier key on one ring, then have my disc lock key, pannier rack key and lock cable key on the other end. I also have a second plunger setup with only the lock tool for my Garmin Montana on it.

I have a keyring that has a very small carabiner on it. On my last bike, I sewed a loop of nylon strap thru the hole in the key. When riding, the bike key and its loop of fabric is all that hangs from the ignition. I pocket the carabiner and it's other keys.

Been lazy since getting the ST - the key just wears a loop of zip tie.

This relates back to my sports bike days, when alarm remotes weren't alway totally waterproofed effectively - I got into the habit of using a lanyard around my neck that would tuck inside one-piece leathers.

So, all the ancilliary keys/fob/remote go on the lanyard ring - then the bike key alone has a simple loop/leather fob which just clips to the lanyard when not in use. When on the road, there are no sundry keys to rattle about/cause damage. The lanyard can be worn around the neck, tucked under jacket, or get attached to a dog clip in your pocket.

Works for me, just one of many solutions I'm sure.

My extra keys get stuck under one thing or another all the time on the bike. Forces me to slow down and figure out how to get them free. It can be minorly annoying, but not enough for me to do anything about it.

Ya I really did not think I was going to be able to get the key out without breaking it off... I had just enough to get the bike key out of the ignition and then I was able to wiggle it free. Had I not been able to get the bike key out, I might had been SOL

I have it happen all the time. Just push or pull slightly on the bars and the key can slip out.
