Occasional Cruise Control Failure?

I've been getting a very intermittent issue with my cruise control. Every now and then when I hit to button to enable it, the little yellow light just starts slowly blinking and I can't use cruise control. Stopping and turning the bike off and on again usually resolves it. When it does happen, I've double checked to make sure all the obvious conditions were met (clutch fully engaged, no brakes being applied, above the minimum speed). Anybody else have this issue and know what's happening?
Bike is a 2016, no tuning or anything done.

Check your side stand switch too. Lube and clean it. It's been known to cause this problem.

Check for stored error code 090. If so, you most likely have a failing front brake light switch.
I had the same problem, but never saw 090 until I used the kill switch to turn of the bike. It was quite frustrating. In my case it was the brake switch as well. The brake light stayed on for a while when it triggered the blinking cruise control light.

Yeah so I waited till I got flashing CC, hit the kill switch and 090 showed up.
You can check while the bike is running on the side stand. I used the break lever a couple of times and watched the break light. Mine stayed on sometimes. This when the I was able to get the 090 code. I used a bit WD40 on the microswitch. Not a lot just a little bit. That did the trick. I don't if this can cause more damage and I am not sure if it is a long term solution or whether I have to replace it eventually.

Had this issue, narrowed it down to front break light switch, changed it for a new unit and now everything's fine, guess I'm saying check that first, if you research it on here it appears to be the most common cause.

Hello Dpatt

There is a mega thread about this subject. I suggest you read it so we don’t have to repeat everything. Not that I am not willing but the right info is there.

Check the mega-thread as recommended. I can share my current experience. I was getting the 090 code and flashing light. Had it for the first few years (a 2016 S10). Dealership lubed the switches which helped initially but it came back. My issue appears to be the clutch switch. I developed the habit of closing the clutch lever and then picking it a bit past its normal open position. That reduced the issue by about 75 percent. Then I began to notice a connection to weather - seems like it was more likely to come up when humid and a little chilly. My guess is that the switch slider is getting hung up and not totally releasing. Perhaps some lube getting gummed up a little. I've seen the issue showing up less and less. I just did a four day trip of about 1000 miles with lots of cruise control use. No issues at all. Been good all summer with or without my superstitious clutch lever jiggling.

Point is, see if you can figure out the pattern and isolate on the problem switch. A little light lube to clean it out and help it move might be useful, but for me hasn't been necessary. I don't know what the dealer used, but I'd stay away from WD-40 as that will attract dust. Maybe silicone or light lithium spray.

Good luck,

I have the same problem with the error code 090. It comes and goes.

I checked all fuses, specially the one from front brake and it seems fine.

Im wondering if the problem is the after market Pazzo break lever.

For a while I thought I had a bad clutch, I even blead the clutch and nothing, until I replaced the Pazzo to a ASV and felt 10x better.

Now I need to find to ASV brake lever to see if it solves this issue.

Note: cheap levers wear out the metal inside where the little actuator goes.

As stated the brake switch. FWIW the rear brake switch backs off on it's own and has to be checked periodically to make sure it engages when using the pedal.

Didn't see it as a stickied post, or in the search results for "cruise control issues", But luckily some other users already posted helpful info that looks promising.
