I bought my 2012 ST at Abernathy's in Union City TN. 7 weeks ago. They had 2 in stock. A blue and a black. I took the blue bike home. Liked the price, love the bike. My first new bike purchace. I have always bought used in the past. Past bikes in chronological order.
1. 1975 Honda xr75
2. 1973 Honda cb175
3. 1981 Honda cb750 STOLEN :(
4. 1982 Honda cb900
5. 1984 Harley Davidson FXRT
6. 1973 Honda cb750k3
7. 1973 Honda cb450
8. 1979 Kawasaki KZ1000e
9. 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200

After riding all of these great old bikes, some of them were in a sad shape when I bought them, I am ready for this super nice new machine.
I have already installed Jessee odyssey II bags and givi crash bars. I am a Aircraft Mechanic by trade and always do all my own maintainance so I know this site is going to come in very handy in the future.

Thanks for this super nice web site. Bart

Welcome Bart! Glad to have another Tennessee Tenere in the group. I'm in Murfreesboro. Need to get a Tennessee meet together next year. Enjoy your new bike.

Onelooper,

Congrats on the new bike. I purchased mine at Abernathy's too. I live near the Paris Landing area. So far, I've put 20k+ miles on this bike since delivered new to me on May 5, 2012. I've already been to Maine-Montana-Idaho-Oklahoma-North Carolina and lots more on this new ride. Can you say "Can't get enough?"

There is a breakfast down at Lavinia, TN with mostly Beemer and Sport Touring riders. They usually meet about 8 AM for breakfast and BS. Sometimes a few guys ride together after breakfast. Natchez Trace State Park has a lot of dirt/gravel roads to be explored and is fairly close to the meet point.

Maybe I'll see you down at Bfast some Sunday morning. Drop me a pm if you want to meet up. I also host FerrySTOC in the spring at Paris Landing State Park. I will have some dual sport loops written up for those who want to get dirty. LBL has plenty of gravel available and I know of a lot more in Stewart, Benton, Houston, Humphries, Henry and surrounding counties.

Enjoy the new bike. You could learn to really like it!

I will try to come to the Sun. morning gathering sometime. I work for the Co. in Memphis that has all the big purple and white planes and right now they don't like it when I don't show up on Sundays. I am trying to change that but it may be a while. What is ferrystoc? Sounds interesting.

Congrats on the Tenere onelooper,I bought the first Tenere at Abernathys.I was a salesman there for 7 years before I retired .I only have a little 3000 miles as health issues restrict me to day rides at best.I`ve a problem with transmision shifting now so they will have to crack the cases to find the problem. We tried the easy fixes but it still has to be double shifted.Yamaha says this is the first one they have seen with this problem, they shipped the parts straight from Japan - 2 days.My son is the parts manager,if you need parts or acc`s ask for David, tell him I sent you.I live in Union City a couple miles from the shop so if your back up this way let me know, maybe I can show you around the neighborhood.

Jly I believe I met you when I bought my bike. You rode up on your bike and patiently answered a lot of my questions. Sorry to hear about your transmission problems.
