All:

Seeing that there are a number of us in the NOVA/DC/MD area. Is anyone up for a RTE the weekend of February 9/10th?

If there is interest, we can find a place to eat. Perhaps the Old Salem Cafe in Marshall, VA? I was there a few weeks ago for an ADV RTE. They definitely seem to have the capacity to seat a big group. But there are also a ton of other decent places too.

I hadn't seen it either.

Marshall is a good location not too far from Bull Run Mountain Road. A nice road that links to some other pleasant dirt roads.

If you try again sometime I'll try to make it.

I was wondering if anyone saw this! If anyone is still up for a ride (barring nasty weather) let's try and do a ride on February 23rd or 24th! If Dirt_Dad comes, I'd love to ride some of those road he keeps talking about!

I can't do the 23rd but I could do the 24th, wx permitting, of course.

Alternative, 18 Feb 2013, Pres's day, wx in the 40s and sunny.

Let's do the 2/24. It apears that that will work!

So for the first S10 RTE in the NOVA/MD area, let's aim for 10am at Old Salem Cafe in Marshall, VA. It may not appear that there is much street parking there. But there is a decent sized parking area behind the establishment.

Everyone is welcome to come out and join us!

Awesome! I'm in.

Anybody up for finding some dirt afterwards? I've got a fresh set of K-60s, and they have seen snow, ice and rain in the past two weeks, but no dirt.

I'm up for some dirt. There's a fair number of dirt roads not far from Marshall. Nothing I'd call exciting, but they entertain me enough when I don't have time to go far from home.

Wait, I've given this a little more thought. There are actually some very fun switchback mountain dirt roads about 20 minutes west of Marshall.

I submit this for your consideration of a dirt ride: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2142976

There are some other fun dirt roads just north of there that will end at the top of Mt. Weather at the Emergency Operation Center. From there turn right to get on Rt 50 towards DC, or turn left and get on Rt 7 back towards DC or Maryland.

Just a couple of options if you're interested in a dirt ride.

Excellent to see some traction on this! I'm up for some dirt, if possible and weather permitting.

If I can make it I will be bringing a friend. I apologize in advance because he rides a yellow GSA.

He had final drive was replaced at 19000 miles so should be alright. And it was replaced under warranty so it's no big deal. At least that's what he said.
