Just got registered and wanted to make at least one post. I don't post much on any of the forums I visit, but check in often.

Have been researching the Tenere and getting close to trading in my 'wing. I test rode the initial model at a Yamaha event and like the bike a lot.

Also, wanted to note, I really like the graphic design of this forum, ie; color / scheme. I don't know enough about that stuff to know "why" but it seems easy to read and tastefully laid out.

Welcome to the forum, Stoned. Gold Wings are marvelous machines, but the advantage of a Super Tenere over the Wing is that the Super Ten can take you down roads you would likely avoid on the Wing. It truly is a "go (almost) anywhere" motorcycle.

Cheers,

I get that about the Tenere. I also have a V-strom and I love the options I have when out and about on that bike.

Although I have taken some pretty long rides on the V-strom (650) I would like a somewhat heavier bike for the real trips. I have looked long and hard at the Dl-1000, especially the 2014, and I still think the Yamaha might be a
better fit for me.

The wing is a wonderful bike but I bought it for a significant other that no longer rides with me, or if she does so, it is just short, local rides. I don't like the wing enough to keep it around for the little it gets ridden.

The s10 is about as different of bike as you can get from the wing. I owned a 1500 wing for 4 months I just hated it. It wasn't comfortable long haul and I traded it for a ST1100.

Anyways welcome to the forum and I know how you feel... s t o n e d . . .

Stoned, always happy to have visitors or posters, S10 owners or not. Lots of us started on this forum as non-owners, the original purchasers in the US to folks like you. Good group here, lots to enjoy. And if you get that S10, even more to enjoy ::008::

Follow up to my own post.

Bought a 2013, white and have put about 3k miles on it so far. It is turning out to be everything I had hoped.

Getting an ECU re-flash, and have the factory bags, and Tour-a-tech GPS mount. Not going to do much else, other than gas and tires.
