Are all the transmissions noisy, whiney? Does Redline or another product help quiet it down?

Thanks for any help

Re: transmission

Don't start multiple threads for the same issue, please.

It is probably normal. We can't tell over the internet what "noisy" is to you.

Your other thread was merged into this one. As EricV wrote, do NOT create multiple threads for the same topic. It's kinda like shouting, creates a clean-up mess for the moderators, and in bigger forums can get you a time-out.

And the direct answer (as others wrote) is that we can't tell from the amount of description you gave.

I'd never noticed until recently, just coming up to 6k on the clock and it's noticeable when closing the throttle particularly in 6th at high speed, I'm just
getting used to it, one thing I know about this bike is it makes noises but there's nothing wrong.

Looset''', noisy bike compared to some , but reliable..... ive had more whine from tire choices than ive noticed anywhere else on the bike.... type of oil you use may or may not make any difference in noise just use good quality stuff and all will be well... this forum is a very good forum as forums go, but according to your post your new, moderators don't care for post (questions that all ready been done ) they want people to check out whats already been posted....one can do that , almost all issues with this bike has been covered some where on this forum.... and a new guy or gall could join and look up all they wanted to know about the super tenere they own and never once interact with another forum member.... and that is sad.... the only new stuff being posted is after a new model year and the paint choices have been changed .... so one can do searches and never be involved or one can ask a question and possible be chastised by the moderators of this forum.... for the most part our moderators do a great job, I would not want it.... the super tenere community is small as compared to say the gs community. ive made a good friend because of this forum .... I hope you and all other new guys or galls get to enjoy what this forum is able to provide its members... this forum is head and shoulders above others I have looked at , like the bike the people are reliable and of some quality rarely seen these days , hope you can enjoy what so many of us have....

and as a new guy , if you start a post and it seems to be hard to find , its there somewhere a search might help you find it so you can continue it instead of a new repost of same subject , that's will make the moderators a bit crazy . a new guy mistake .

I got the message! Thanks, I will live with it.
As Madhatter stated, this forum has a lot of answers to a lot of questions, but look first and if you cannot find then by all means ask, someone will come along and point out a previous thread, just the multiple postings by the same person can be somewhat tiring to clean up, CW, AVGeek and EricV have most of the info anyone could need. So welcome and enjoy.
And BTW, this bike does whine, but I like it, it also makes a sound akin to a tool box in a tin garbage can thrown down a metal staircase. ::021::

A very good tip MH. ::008::

Searching with your own user name will find threads you started quickly. Another tip is to set up your profile so you get notifications when you have replies to a thread you have posted in, and when you have PMs. That alone saves a lot of frustration, as you see when someone is responding to your comment and when someone wants to chat off forum, which is usually a positive thing.

Searching works best with a medium length string of words. Too few and you get too many hits for the small common words. Too long and you don't always find what you're looking for. Often this will find things you're looking for, but it also often allows you to then start a new thread with a more focused question. Like: 'my transmission seems to make a lot of noise when I down shift, or when in deceleration, but is quiet under acceleration, is this normal?' That gives others more of a clue about what you are experiencing, rather than just asking if it's noisy normally. A subjective over all question is harder to answer than a question about specific actions.

Loosetravlr your question seems very reasonable to me, I have not noticed any unusual transmission wine from mine, as far as the way they so often move posts around on this board yes I suspect that often causes unintended problems especially for newer members, it takes awhile to figure all this stuff out. Overall this is a very helpful forum with excellent members that are very willing to help.

to me it is some what interesting hearing all the different noises this bike makes, its sounds like something is doing something ..... had a friend ask me over to his house to see his new to him ford utility tractor, he got it at a good price... so he starts the tractor and as it runs asks me does it sound normal.... I told him it sounds like a small diesel , it was a small diesel.... talk about noises ,small diesels do that.... he was a happy guy knowing all was normal with his tractor , and this bike likes to make a few sounds too... unless its grinding ( I think a problem sound would be very evident pretty quickly ) or smoking , all is well ....
