Have a 2014 E model with 4000k. Noticed recently a rattling sound coming from the front end on rough roads. Checked all bolts, screws etc., however noise was still there. Have contacted my Yamaha dealer who suggested I bring it in for a look. After going over it and checking various things, we noticed on bouncing the forks it appeared to be where the noise was coming from. Also checked against a brand new E on the showroom floor which had no noise. Dealer is pulling the forks down to see what is going on. Has anyone experienced this problem?

The dealer generously loaned me a Suzuki B King to use in the meantime which made me really appreciate how much I love my S10!!

Yes!!
Same with mine.

My dealer was perplexed as well and talked about pulling the forks. In the end it was a five minute fix, we just loosened the clamps and bounced the suspension a few times, loosened the axle and spun the wheel, tightened everything up and the problem disappeared. At least try that before you start pulling things apart.
Your bike is probably from the same batch as mine, it's reassuring to see it wasn't just mine.
Good luck with it.
Peter.

Mine is the same. Didn't make the noise at first but now hear it at 3000kms. All these 2014 bikes seem to be close serial #s. Mine is 75.
Will try loosening the fork clamps etc.

Some mention has been made in the past regarding the steering head bearings needing to be re-torqued. Sounds like a similar problem noise-wise.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the info. Who is your dealer in case mine wants some guidance?
Jim
TeamMoto in Nerang QLD. Talk to Michael(French pronunciation).
The clunking noise sounds the same except mine was right from the start, the first time I took it on dirt it was very obvious. Hopefully yours will be as easy to fix. BTW, the steering head bearings were correctly adjusted.

Did the dealer find out where the noise was coming from?
