During last weeks ride I found out the hard way my battery was weak. Had to have a push start. Yesterday I started her up no problem. Today I replaced the battery with a new fully charged XTreme motorsport battery. Went to start her and she would only crank no start.
So I notice my headlights aren't on either? Check fuse OK, check harness not burnt. Put a battery starter on and still no start.
Well it's time for break. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Headlights only turn on once it's running. You have likely flooded the bike at this point. Pull the fi fuse, crank it over a few times, the. put fuse back in, and hold throttle wide open while starting.

Yep! Lights only on when running. I guess I never noticed because it always started immediately. WOT started right up.
What I don't understand is why after replacing the battery I had my first hard start issue in 6200 miles. Same starting ritual. ??? ???

Read the "hard start" threads. Anytime you are screwing around with the bike's electrical system, cycling the key, etc. increases the odds you will inadvertently get into a flooded condition on the next start. No one really knows why.
