I tried one on at the Seattle IMS, It feels 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of my XD4! It was really comfortable for my fat head :p , mainly because of it's weight. I can see this being an all day, long distance advantage. They will run about $650 +/-

I like the new features and styling of this new helmet but I think the XD4 might still be your best option .
Yeah, I would like to have one of these Touratech lids of course.
I'd be the 1st guy on the block and the guys with 30K+ rides will all be asking me....where can I get one?
lol ::26::

Pricing is in there with the NeoTech and Schuberth modular helmets. Interesting features. Anyone know what the internal shape is? (round or oval or??)

For me, the biggest drawback of this helmet is the lack of cutouts to accommodate communication system speakers. For a helmet at this price point, I consider that a major fail. ::007::

I admit it's nice when you don't have to void the warranty by cutting into the foam for speakers. Do you think comm is become more the norm, than the exception? I only have it to talk to the wife when we ride, (bike to bike). I don't think I'd bother with the expense or hassle otherwise.

Eric, personally I consider comm to be the norm now, particularly while using Bluetooth enabled GPS. I also like the ability to speak with other riders who have compatible units that may be paired with mine.

Cheers,

Bruce

::026:: Given how connected we are as a society now, I see the demand for comm to go up.

Comm has clearly hit critical mass when you show up to ride with a few guys and part of the pre-ride breakfast talk is linking up the helmets, plus kidding of "Antisocial guys" who can't link.

Direct answer to the OP is that I have seen the helmet at a show but did not try it on and know nothing about it.

BUT

The Shoei DS helmets are being blown out at $350 and less while the new X2 is being introduced. If the screws holding the visor are not a big deal for you, the Shoei sale is impossible to beat!

Bruce, the spec sheet says it accommodate speakers:

Key features:
•Crafted from lightweight, carbon fiber for increased rider comfort
•No-drag airflow visor reduces wind grab and strain on neck & body
•Transforms between Street, Dual-sport to Dirt configurations with no tools
•Easy open, easy close vents designed to keep rain out
•Pin-Lock ready shield (Pin-Lock insert sold separately)
•Intercom system ready, with speaker cavities
•Ergo padding system
•Washable, Antiperspirant, hypo-allergenic, Coolmax lining
•Emergency cheek pad removal system
•Liner cut away to accommodate glasses
•Designed for goggles with quick-strap ready embossments and strap-lock shape
•Set up for action camera mount
•Extra long chin strap allows removal of helmet without completely unfastening 2DD buckle
•Exceeds all DOT and ECE 2205 standards for helmet safety

Right you are. I was confusing this helmet with another new adventure touring helmet, the Bell MX-9, which does not have speaker cutouts.

Thanks for the clarification. ::008::

Cheers,

Bruce
