Howdy. New here, but just to the Tenere and this board. I picked up my brand new 2013 leftover (need to come up with a new term for that -- 'leftover' sounds like yesterday's meatloaf... which this bike is not! ::008::) three weeks ago from Sehorn Yamaha, fly-n-ride style back to Houston. ::26:: I managed to stay off the slab and stopped at a buddy's place in Dallas on the way home and did the first oil & filter change after 250mi as part of an aggressive break in. Did the 600mi service (oil again and final drive) once back at home.

I currently own 4 other bikes and have had many more than that over the years. After a 400 mile day last Saturday I've logged 1000 miles on the new bike and the verdict is in... it's bad to the bone!

I've added the Madstad windscreen bracket, PIAA auxiliary lights, and a Holan headlight guard. I have the Holan Nomada Pro II panniers on the way, but I've still to make a final decision on which crash bars and skid plate to go with. I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on the AltRider bars, but the skid plate is a tougher one. To my eye, the Yamaha one looks the best, yet by all accounts provides the least protection. The ACD appears practically b0nnb proof (thanks NSA snoops ::010::), but it's ugly enough to make a freight train take a dirt road! I've considered designing and fabricating my own if I can find a good aluminum welder close by.

One thing that absolutely needs doing though if I hope to do many more of these days of 6-8 hours in the saddle (which I plan to), is a new saddle. On my other bikes I can go 500+ miles and 8-10 hours in a day no problem, but the stock Tenere seat leaves my feet and back of my legs numb after just a couple of hours. I hope to make connections with other Houston-area owners that have aftermarket seats I might try out before shelling out five hundred bones on a seat I may not like, but I'll start a separate thread about that.

Anyway, cheers to all and here are a few pics...

Welcome aboard! Pretty bike.
::008::
Before you pay for a new saddle, do a search and you'll find lots of posts commending the "Seat Concepts" foam and cover kit for something like $156.

::004:: from just down the road...Port Isabel (across the causeway of South Padre Island). Yup...got a 13 as well, same great "gun-metal" grey!

Just starting to add some stuff as well...MadStad on the stock shield and a Givi 55 liter tail back (wife likes to lean against it while riding).

After reviewing your opening thread, checking on your bike history and the plans for the new bike, looks good.

The tie breaking point to allow or disallow you was the selection of color. Congrats, you made the right choice, your are in.

Welcome to the group.

Good Luck
