Hi to all, I bout my new blue/black ST 1200 last month and got to do a lot of street riding. My back ground is mostly dirt. My other bike are all dirt. This is a perfect combo and no trailer needed. I can go find the trails. I need to start w/ some mods and add on's like tires and boxes to start. I've been reading lots of post here and learning a lot. I found some ST Yamaha Decals from an Aussie and cant wait to put them on. It's cold here in GA today so I'm stuck in doors but I'm itching to get up to the Dragons Tail and see how many logging roads I can find. My dream is to go on a long road trip but w/ work and all, it's still a dream. I'd like to get out west. Maybe someday. Hell I'm 46, it's prime time! ::022::

TenereJack, Welcome to the madness!!! Don't worry you have lots of time, if you take advantage of it at some point!!! I have ridden most of the USA on bikes, and can say the west is wonderful in many many ways, for this bike. I think even more than the beautiful eastern USA ( Adirondacks and Smokey Mtns). Forums like this are opening lots of people's eyes to gravel road riding more than ever before, and finding those far off places. Take for example the recent ride reports of the TAT (Trans-American Trail, The Washington Back Country Discovery Route, Oregon Back County Discovery Route, Utah Back Country Discovery Route), all for bikes like this. Simply amazing!!! I rode to Alaska in 2001 with a group of guys, and it was amazing to do it with others on same bikes. If there is any way to ride this July to Whitehorse with the many guys from here coming from all over the USA, you will NEVER regret it at all, I PROMISE YOU that!!! No pressure!!!

Enjoy the bike and all of us here!!! We can help you make those dreams come true!!!
