Hello and a Happy New Year to all.
I have been riding for over 40 years the last 20 of which on a BMW R100RT which I bought new in 1993.

I have truly enjoyed this motorcycle as it has been reliable (albeit at irrationally exuberant maintenance costs), fun to ride, deceptively quick and nimble in the twisties, very comfortable for all-day riding and with great [cold and wet] weather protection
That said, it was time for a new ride.
I spent most of this year thoroughly testing various motorcycles and the only one that has consistently amazed me and got me excited about replacing mine has been the Super Tenere. With the low seat its ergonomics are surprisingly close to those of my RT - i.e. incredibly comfortable. It is fast, nimble, smooth and feels effortless in anything it does. Weather protection is excellent with the tall screen and wind deflectors and while it is not quite that of the RT I no longer have to worry about a fairing [when the inevitable drops occur] and I am not going to steam in summer.
So with my RT sold I got a new Super Tenere as a Christmas present.
Here she is with just the initial jewelry (tall screen, deflectors and low seat). Next on will be OEM panniers and lights and after that crash bars and skid plate.

Good riding to all
Alex

Good job!

I predict you a great candidate for the XT1200Z. It would be great to see you enjoy the same longevity with your new mount as you did with the RT. Here's to both having the right stuff!!

Greetings and Salutations from the land of painfully flat, straight asphalt and sugar sand.

Nice looking bikes (both of them).

From the looks of that 20 year old BMW you take meticulous care of your bikes. Give the Tenere with half that much care and attention, and I'll bet she'll still be rolling 20 years from now too.

Welcome aboard!
