Hey all, I've been a lurker here for a while, but finally made the very wise decision to leave my cruiser at the dealership and bring this bad boy home. I don't think I could've made a better decision. I have some new gear and bike protection to buy, but I hope to get out and ride with some of you and put some real miles on this beast of a bike. I've done sportbikes, standards, dualsports and cruisers, so it was only fitting that I gave adventure motorcycling a try.

Welcome. Nothing like a showroom clean bike!

Come join us Sunday, we'll break it in...
Thanks Kevin, I'd really like to join you guys, but I think the timing is all wrong for me this time. I haven't even had a chance to talk to my insurance agent about adding my bike to my policy. I WILL join you guys, maybe for the next one. Thanks for the invite and welcome.

Congratulations! I just bought the same ST two weeks ago. Mime's even the same color. With the 2014s coming in, the price was great.

Let me know if you have any questions about farkling the bike. I tried to post a few photos and updates over the last couple of weeks.

The seat tilt fix was well worth it for less than $15. Oxford premium adventure grips are the best for only $80, much less than Yamaha heated grips. Panniers, skid plate and crash bars will be the most costly stuff you buy but are worth the cost. My last purchase was for a Parabellum windshield and an Alaskan sheepskin butt pad, both designed to give me more hours of ride time.

Join us for the ride to the coast on Sunday if you can.

;-) Paul

Thanks Paul, how funny, two white Teneres in Sandy? I think I saw you cut through the real estate place's parking lot while I was eating at Stephanie's with some friends last night.

Thanks for the advice on parts. I'm already loading up my cart, and I'm glad you think the Oxford grips are good, I wasn't quite sure, but those are a necessity for me for those early morning commutes. The Altrider bars and skid plate are also in there, along with a few other goodies. I'll have to do a search for the seat tilt fix since that was the first thing I noticed on my ride home last night.

I hope you guys plan another ride soon, I'm pretty sure I'm out for this one unfortunately. Just bad timing for me this time, but thanks for the invite.

Welcome, Joel. I like that white color scheme, but I'm hangin' on to my blue 12 for a while.

Used to live in Coos Bay. Enjoyed riding the west coast of Oregon except for that thick coastal fog.

Yup... that was me testing out my new Alaska sheepskin butt pad. Didn't take far to realize it was going to be a nice addition. I rode an ST1100 I bought in Nashville home to Portland and the seat had been modded by the owner. It was terrible. I spent 3900 miles on my butt bones as the padding was way too soft. Now I'm paranoid about breaking my butt on long rides.

The rubber bumpers you're looking for are these:

Just replace the four back OEM, higher bumpers and the back of the seat will sit lower while the front stays at the original height. It's a little thing but it makes a big difference. You need to order 5 bumpers as one will go under the receiving slot for the back of the seat when it's slid into position. Come by the shop and I'll show you. You can even try the seat on your bike to check it if you like.

Welcome on, FL from Oregon. Congratulations on that new bike. He's a handsome devil, but so are they all. Sounds like you have a riding group already at your doorstep. I know you'll have many stories to share in the coming months. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Thanks for the welcome rem. Yeah, I'm looking forward to meeting up with some of the locals, there are endless places to ride right in our own backyards. I'm also interested in going on some longer, overnight rides, and I think I finally found the right bike to do it on.

Welcome from the State just north of you.
They designed and constructed Oregon and Washington for the Super Tenere, you know.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Looks like I'll have no shortage of people to ride with. Hopefully that means I can find some new areas to explore...hehe, of course that's what it means.
