Well, I paid $12980 and that was after looking pretty hard. Forgot to mention that it was a 2016, but I'm not sure that matters.

That price seems a little high to me.

Back in the fall of 2015 I searched a 300 mile radius and found my new 2014 Tenere non-ES for $10,600 in Chicago and then paid taxes in my home state.

Leftovers are out there, just do some searching on CycleTrader - deals can be found.

I paid $10,999 + tax ($11,148.66 OTD) for my new red 2015 non-ES on 2/18/2017 at a dealer in southern Indiana. I had to drive 400 miles (round trip) to get it. The only other similar deal I saw was a new 2014 the same dealer had for the same price, except the 2014 had factory bags. My 2015 had no options included.

Best of luck.

Don't have any idea what "a good price" is.

But I have always felt the bike was WORTH MSRP.

Or put another way, if every single Tenere in the world was locked into MSRP at the dealer, I'd still have mine.
What I paid for it 6 years later neither adds or deducts from my enjoyment.

I got mine in August 2016. It was a new hold-over 2014 non-ES and I paid $11,999. It was the best deal I could find on a new unit within a few hour drive. They just weren't super common where I am, and you don't see many used either.

*edit*
I should also mention that I didn't buy it outright. I did trade my XVS1300, so I didn't get the benefit of a cash/no trade price. I know buying outright with cash and no trade does sometimes get a little better deal, from a dealer.

Same issue with me. The next closest ST was a five hour drive one way. All over the internet is one thing. Being able to get it home in a reasonable time frame is another.

I found my 2015 non ES leftover through Cycletrader for $10,800. With tax, title and YES coverage it came to around $12,000. It was 200 miles away but that was a great "get to know ya" ride home. Even at full retail it's a good deal and any less is a bargain

Went to the dealership today to talk some more. I'm close to being where I want to. But......they started talking set-up, destination and processing fee.....They told me they HAVE to charge this and that's what Yamaha charges them. But, I've read several ads from dealerships who are saying that they don't charge this? What does this typically cost and how negotiable is that? The sales guy said he didn't know and would have to ask I didn't want to push it further until I get more info. on this.

It's "negotiable". I say that because most things are negotiable.

But, how negotiable varies.
You'll soon know.

Don't know your situation, but if it is convenient to do business with a dealership, usually based on distance, it's just a matter of negotiating a business relationship that benefits both parties. I bought my Tenere 6ish years ago from a dealership I had never even stepped foot in. All these years later I have now purchased 4 bikes and 2 generators and loads of tires and parts. It turned into a "relationship". I actually count a few folks there as friends.

It required BOTH parties to reach out. I have no regrets.

Edit: Full Disclosure: I am not one to beat up a sale. I never let a small $dollar amount rob me of an otherwise joyful transaction. Wish I had learned that much earlier in life. :)

Snakebitten, With all due respect; I understand what you are saying. My family has bought 4 bikes from this dealership, as well as MANY parts. This is a matter of me getting a new bike, or not getting a new bike. I don't have the financial luxury of not doing all I can to make this happen. I have 2 bikes now and am looking to trade both my bikes for a new Tenere. This wasn't even a thought or idea until I went to the dealership to look at a bike for my oldest son. So the relationship is there. As a matter of fact, the previous owner of the dealership was a neighbor of my parents. I also happen to like the new owner and everyone that works there. They have a lot of good dealios including a 2010 KTM 990 SM T in near perfect conditions for only $6k! If I didn't feel good about the place; then I wouldn't even bother.

Ooops. I didn't have a clue. ???

Some reason I thought you recently moved to Fort Worth.
I'm so far past my prime.

That 950SM would mess with my head.

It seems to me $12,999 for a motorcycle that lists for $15,100 is in no way over priced, but if they add other fees, that could change things. The bike is well worth the cost even at $15k. I forget what all of us that ordered the 2012 and waited near a year to get paid, but I think I payed $13,000+. 2015 will be a huge upgrade and worth it in my opinion in the general price you are talking about paying.

A quick tip on buying out of state in the middle of winter - Uhaul cycle trailers are dirt cheap to rent. I once bought a bike far away and rather than ride it back and tie up my wife for a whole day I rented a Uhaul cycle trailer for a whopping $16. Zero issues, their trailers are solid.

Is $12999 USD a good price to pay for a brand new 2015 non ES?

I was able to get my '17 Cobalt ES for $15K in Burleson, TX @ Burleson Power Sports. It would be worth a look considering they're right there. By the way, they do have a '16 60th Anniversary on the floor.

isn't that price a little moot considering he wants to trade two
bikes in on the new one? The dealer could easily drop the price on the super but give next to nothing on the trades? Maybe I`m reading this wrong ..Its 6am my time lol

Absolutely. I often refer to salesmen, of anything, as vultures. I've learned over time, to know the fair market value of your trade-in and the purchase; prior to buying.

Don't worry, there is no such thing as a "cash price" that is magically better than you would have gotten; it's a myth. In fact, you can generally get a better price if you're financing, as the dealer makes money on the financing in teh form of payments/commissions back from the finance companies.
