Just picked up a new to me Super Tenere. I have been interested in this bike ever since it was first introduced to Canada in 2012. I seriously thought about buying a brand new 2015 when I found this low mileage 2012 ( 2700 Km ). I realize there where a lot of improvements with the 2014 model but at $5K less for a virtually new machine I just couldn't resist. To make it all sweeter my S10 came with Yamaha crash bars, PIA driving lights, three piece Yamaha Luggage and a touratech adjsutable windshield.
I have only ridden it a couple of times as i am waiting for a new battery ( can't expect a battery that sits that long to last i suppose ), I can honestly say this is one smooth great handling bike. Much more comfortable than my 2010 990 adventure ever was. Should be a great two up machine as i tour with my wife most often.
I have been enjoying learning about my new ride from all of the knowledge shared on this site. As i go forward I expect to add a skid plate and as i am reminded by the frost on my roof this morning most likely some heated grips.

Welcome but... there's no good roads, no scenery, no mountain passes, no rivers and lakes, no wildlife anywhere near Canmore, AB... (can I sound more sarcastic?) What a great area to enjoy your new ride !

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Thanks Red Cat for all your info while I was trying to make this purchase.
My co pilot and i just returned from our first trip on the S10 and I will have to say its one of the best two up rides i have owned except maybe my gold wing, but it didn't do gravel very well. We were gone for about 600km, half of which was gravel, dirt and double track. Having come from a 990 adventure i was surprised how well this new bike handled the off road. Both the 990 and the S10 have similar horsepower and torque, but the numbers don't show where that power is made. When I doubled on the 990 any slow going required a fair bit of clutch work to avoid stalling, I couldn't believe how i could let the revs on the S10 drop below 1000rpm and it would just pull away effortlessly. Simply amazing for riding with a passenger.
All round excellent manners on the dirt, even with the stock battle wings, look forward to trying some more off road worthy rubber.
Thanks again to every one that contributes to this forum as it has been invaluable to owning the big Tenere.
