I am about to rent a new place. If I get the one that works the best for the family, I have off street parking but not garaged or covered. However, there is a wooden fence that swings open and a nice sized area to keep the bike BUT the opening is 3.18ft( 38.16in ) The Super Tenere is 38.6inches(3.22ft). Never done this before. I've always had garages.

So; can I lean and tilt and angle my way in? Hack an inch of my bars? Rotate my bars back or forward for better entry? Purchase a third party bar that is shorter(and less vibey?) Rebuild the landlords fence?

Lean and twist will work. It would also only take a couple minutes to remove or install the hand guards and end weights.

You'll lean and twist to get it in but it will be much harder leaning and twisting to get it out in reverse.

Wood fence? Can you cut a shallow slot at handlebar level to get you an extra inch? If you do it carefully, it would be easy to repair in the future.

Just leave the door closed and ride really hard at it the first time you go to park it. It'll leave a perfect bike-shaped entry way. ::26::

Actually, don't do this. Probably dangerous. ::025::

Lean and twist as you back it in. Mine goes through a narrow gap between the garage door frame and my car, provided I get the angle correct.

Or, ride a wheelie through the gate. ::26::

Or just leave it outside, like most bikers in London, and every other major shitty, oops, meant city! As it's not in a garage behind the fence. Bike cover and a big chain and good insurance in case of human temptation to covert another man's chattels.

You guys(gals) have been running the bike with the garage door closed - too often! ::010::

I'm renting, the gate is wooden, owner not cool. Plenty of space behind the fence to turn the bike around and do the exit dance for departures. That said, I have a new idea-->

Change the townhouse: I'm just gonna rent a different place. Bigger gate entrance, bigger yard. Problem solved. ::001::
