2016 S10 ES with now 880 miles.

1. Digital Tach goes to 10K RPM. NO indication on display regarding where the RED LINE is. Manual says to avoid operation above the RED LINE, but gives no value?? What is the RED LINE??

2. On 4 occasions when decelerating, clutch pulled in at slow speed in 2nd, give the throttle a little tweak to bring the revs up a bit before easing clutch out, & the engine has had a small pop - not anyhing loud or not a backfire, just sounds like a puff of air then all is normal. Is this something I should het used to on the S10 or is it possibly just breaking the engine in?

Thanks in advance...

Red line is 7750RPM. You can notice on the tach readout, although there is no red line, the bars are longer starting at 7750 indicating the "high RPM zone".

Welcome

1) manual states that for a Gen 2 S10, "Do not operate the engine in the tachometer high-rpm zone. High-rpm zone: 7750 r/min and above"

2) All normal, sounds better with an aftermarket slip on!

The owners manual mentioning the redline is a cute throwback to the past, as the engine ECU will protect the engine.

These bikes take up to 5,000 miles to break in. For some reason, when still new some owners have had the bike stall in conditions like you mention. Starts right back up with no problem. Just be ready to pull the clutch so you don't drop it, especially in a turn.

Funny you mention that - it has happened to me about 3 times!! It just cuts off & then starts right back up. Thought it was something I was doing, but I guess not. At first I thought I might be bumping the kickstand on causing the switch to cut out the engine. I am assuming this goes away.
