Hello All!

Just put down the $$$ for a 2012 Raven model. Fell in love with it and had to have it. Got rid of my 06 C50T. Big change, but am very excited!

Couple of questions if anyone has the time:

1. Is there anyone local to Portland Oregon that would like to meet up to ride?

2. Is it wise to get tank pads for the knees? I would think the paint would get all screwed up and also provide better grip with the knees when needed.

3. Are there any good break in tips?

THanks for any input and tips!

Steve

Welcome to the collective!
1) I have no idea, post up in your regional forum.

2) techspec sells nice protection, but many of the guys have gone with the world crosser look. Just do a search on those two and you will find a bunch of threads.

3) break it in according to manufacturers reccomondations. Or ride it like you stole it. Just don't hammer the throttle hard, use the complete rev range, but stay away from red line, and don't ride it for extended periods of time at one rpm.

Enjoy it gets much better with age and really does not smooth out until about 6k mile mark. It's a comoletely different ride after that.

::026:: All of those tips are good. I believe there are several up in your neck of the woods and welcome to the forum. If you come down this way, give us a shout. Lot's or riders in Oklahoma and Texas. We have a S10 gathering in Colorado in June...

Welcome on, UAVAV8R from Oregon. As far as break in, I would just recommend changing the oil right away, like a 100 km or so (sorry, 50 - 60 miles) and then proceed as recommended in the manual. You'll be fine. I mean, it IS a Japanese bike .... it won't need to be pampered at all. Congrats, and ::004:: to the Forum. R ::022::

Steve,

Welcome to the insanity.....seriously it's a great bike that gets better the more miles you put on it. As Jeff said there are quite a few of us in the greater Pacific Northwest region. ::026:: on the tech spec pads, work really well and don't cost too much. Enjoy your new ride.

Hey Steve,

Congratulations, it's a great bike. I live in Sherwood (deep SW suburb of Portland) and got my Téneré last fall. I've only put a thousand miles on her so far, but they've all been nice: Sherwood/Newberg/Wilsonville backroads, Astoria & back, and West Mt Hood area a bit last weekend. I'd be happy to meet-up, take ride and talk about how much we like our bikes. Weekends are usually good with advance notice.

::026:: Do it, change the oil, ride the bike.

Welcome to the forum. I spent 45+ years in Portland, then moved to where there is more sunshine. ;D Check out OBS - Oregon Biker Scum. It's a list serv centered mostly on P-town, but with some farther flung members. Mostly pretty quiet in the winter, but they do a Call most months in the summer and have good parties. Social list, of riders, but some more riding than others. Good list to toss out "I'm going for a ride to the coast/mountains/Forest Service roads, who wants to come along?" Good people. http://micapeak.com/mailman/listinfo/obs[url]

Thanks for the welcome! Picked it up tonight. Rode home in the rain and loved it. Got the hard cases on.

For those in the PDX area, I am in Gresham and work in hood river. Always up for a ride. Posting pics later! Here is one for now at the dealer.

Congrats from the State just North of you!
Will be skiing at Hood this weekend. Probably won't take the ST there (not that it couldn't do the trip).

Commuting up & down the gorge each day on the Tenere? Blissful!
I know right? Every day, twice a day, passing the falls and all the wonders inbetween? Rough....

The wife and I are an easy find when we will be out riding. If you ever see a black Tenere and a yellow/black Can Am Spyder, you know its us!

Hi Steve,
Welcome! Just got mine too, in January. I'm down in West Linn, would enjoy a meet and ride anytime (recently retired).

Cheers,
John

Welcome to the club UAVAV8R!

I'm in Canby, and I've had mine since last April. Truly the best bike I've ever owned!
