::021:: I am a new Tenere owner as of tuesday 8/30/2011. Took the Tenere for a 100 mile ride yesterday. What's up with the engine vibration on this thing? Just new to the forum and finding some posts on this issue. But you'd thought mamayama would have had this worked out by now... hoping there will be a fix for this soon.

Welome to the forum Jim! While I agree the SuperT vibrates more than my FJR, to me it is about on par with other twins I have ridden. How many miles do you have total on yours?

I am only on day 2 of ownership; I have 130 miles. On my first FJR I had to do all the mods and tweeks; by the time I got the 2010 FJR it was all stock. I think as will all things its just a matter f getting used to it :p

Put a few miles on it, the vibes will down down to a nice entertaining level. You'll find the right throttle position and RPM level to make the ride enjoyable. This bike may be the best I have bought in a long long time, it definitely has character and thats a good thing. The power delivery, the ride, the handling, the fuel mileage and the fuel range are all good, the fun factor is great.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. Traded in my FJR and was second guessing my decision. ::010:: broke the first rule of bikes: never sell, always buy and add to your collection ;D

But here in the Texas Hill country, I love riding the back roads that often turn to dirt cow trails. Mind you that didn't stop me from continuing on down the road with the FJR, but it wasn' t the best ride for this bike. Now I think i'll be good for both highway and dirt ::014::

I really liked my FJR and wanted to keep it in addition the SuperT, but just could not swing the finances. I'm happy with the superT and it grows on me more each time I ride.

Just need to do something about the saddle as time goes on..........

:)

Hello and welcome. Give it some time to break in.
I have two thousand miles on mine now and it is way better.
I woul also suggest you look into the airscrew adjustment, throttle body sync and CO exhaust gas adjustment. I posted on these in the Technical area. They make a huge difference.

My bike is so smooth in comparison to what it was in the first two hundred miles.
Give it time, you will love it.

On my FJR i found that using a beaded seat was a great an inexpensive way to cure a sore butt. I haven' t tried on the S10 yet...

Wish you lived closer and good do a bike day. I am not that good with doing mods on my own. I always seem to make things worse :-[

It really is an easy process. I am sure you could handle it. Maybe see check the service manual to review the steps. Both can be done in about an hour.

Maybe its mentioned somewhere on this forum; but if you don't mind repeating where I can get access to the service manual. Is it available on-line?

Dicussed here, along with a link to where you can purchase a hard copy directly from Yamaha.

The XTZ isn't an FJR. But... The XTZ is smoother than a KTM SupeDuke.
You are probably simply missing the FJR. It's a different bike with a different feel. Do some twisties and hit a gravel road or two. Once you get a feel for the XTZ you'll be glad you switched.
My wife wants me to unload the FJR before winter gets here. We don't have room for her car and four motorcycles in our 1-car garage. The vette has to stay inside during the winter. The seals shrink which causes the roof to leak, but only when it's cold out. I'm still holding out, but reality can be a harsh mistress. Selling the FJR wouldn't break my heart at this point. Last week I played around on a closed gravel road after a 20 min blitz down the freeway. I like being able to scoot past the slides and roost a bit through the corners AND do 85 down the freeway. It's a nice way to kill an hour before having dinner with the in-laws. ::26::
