I bought my Tenere in April and did some looking and decided the the best bang for the buck was getting MR Top Rack.
My intent was to attach my pelican case to it. I also got the side racks.
I had to wait for the top rack because it was being re-designed which I assumed meant strengthened.
I waited from April until early August and finally got my rack Friday!
When I opened the box I quickly realized it was not what I ordered.
I looked and it had the correct pat number on the box.
Went to the internet and found a pic of the "new design" and sure enough this looked the same.
So out to the garage I went...
It became evident really quick that this new design was not only inferior, but extremely weak in its function and strength.
Basically the full load of the top case was centered on a very small area in the very middle covering only a few inches in spread.
The aluminum plate attached to that.
This design would only support the smallest of boxes and even then if the top case was hit during a drop it would at best bend like crazy but based on my engineering background would likely crack/break.
The main intent I had for this rack was to carry stuff in my pelican and for the pelican to be my wife's backrest.
There is no way I would have trust my beautiful wife's life with that design.
Not sure what happened, Moose has always been great products for me but this one is a real fail.
I removed the rack and returned it and also sent an email to Moose to voice my concerns on the safety of this product.
Will let you know how they respond.
