Hi all. thanks for the add. I just picked up a '13 and it seems like just what I was looking for. I rode a Honda ST 1100 for a loooong time, but the knees finally said no more. This is the first dual sport I've had since back when they were called Enduros, although this one is a little nicer. I've got a couple hundred miles on it and like it a lot so far. Currently, it has a Yamaha top case on it, but I think I may go with a 3 bag Outback setup. I do have a few questions for you all.

1) What is an S 10? I've seen it referenced a few times and haven't figured it out yet.
2) Where do you mount switches for accessories? I want to add heated grips, aux lighting, and a switched USB port but there isn't much panel space to mount the switches.
3) Does anyone ever cut down the bars? They seem awfully wide. They're even wider than my WR. It does seem like the existing controls are pinned, so that may be a problem.

Again, thanks for the add.

Welcome to the forum and to the wonderful world of Super Tenere (aka S10) ownership!!!! ::022::

I'm also an ex ST1100 owner/rider, so can appreciate why things feel just a bit different for you!

Spend some time browsing the various parts of the forum and I think you will find a wealth of information!!

Good luck!!

Congratulations on the new bike and welcome to the forum from another Wisconsinite. There is just a ton of info here from some very knowledgeable people.
1) S10 is just an abbreviation for Super Tenere Who wants to type Super Tenere all the time?
2) Switches; Handle bars or dash infill panel sold by ADVMotorad It's only $20
3) Cut down bars; I'm sure someone has done it, but ride the bike for a while first before you get out the hacksaw.
Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I agree, but every time I see "S10", I think back to that crappy little truck that GM put out years ago. Can't help it.

Me too. I had a 1994 model, and it was OK, but the 1997 GMC version I had after that was the single biggest piece of crap I ever owned!

Now now now. Chevy had S10. I had the GM S15. (Or I am totally senile.)

I used GM to include Chevy & G.M.C. Same truck, different badging. I sure there were a couple of good ones made. Everybody that I knew, that had one, had trouble with them. Of course, that was back in the '80s. The best part was when the fastest thing that GM made was an S10 truck. (Cyclone, and of course the Typhoon) Glad Yamaha has a different philosophy.

I had the predecessor Chevy LUV and later GMC Transformers Canyon. So much happier with the F150 now.

Anyway, welcome aboard and search is your friend for the switch mounting. We have folks with a simple sub-panel below the instrument cluster, others putting holes in fairings, and some adding them near the left switch cluster.

Happy to see another Sconnie on-board. I'm just a bit south of Madison. Rode up to Baraboo last fall during my break-in ride to check out the high water in the river. Great roads for cruising around up your way. Let me know if you want to get together for riding, wrenching, or just to compare notes.

I have a WR also. Still trying to find some decent off-road riding in Southern WI. Planning to check out some of the TWAT this summer.

I had an S10 Blazer. It was a great little truck until the old lady in the Dodge pulled out in front of me! ( RIP S10 Blazer :( ) Welcome MBJST!
