Hi - Paul here.

Just bought a 2017 Super Tenere ES model, and will be picking it up on Friday.

I'm 46 and I just sold my GSXR1000 to make the switch to a more comfortable and more insurance friendly bike.

I typically keep my bikes for a long time and do most maintenance myself.

Looking forward to reading tips and tricks from the forum.

::004:: From a Gixer, to a Tenere....that's a big switch. I think you'll be happy with it. The Tenere handles surprisingly well through corners, and is MUCH more comfortable for everyday use. ::001::

Welcome and Congrats! Where abouts in Ontario are you?
I'm in the Sarnia area. Port Huron, Michigan is right across the St. Clair river from me.

I use to ride it a fair bit, but with age and what seems to be bumpier and bumpier road conditions, I needed to take a new direction. Looking forward to the new riding perspective on the Tenere.

I picked up my 2017 Super Tenere ES today. After a short 100 km ride I have this first impression: I prefer sport over touring, suspension on soft, and I love the riding position. Can't wait to finish work tomorrow so I can ride it some more!

Thanks for the welcomes!

After another couple hours of riding I am warming up to the touring setting, my only complaint is on downshifts. I am a throttle blipper on my downshifts. In touring mode, while on the brakes, I find that you have to rotate the throttle too much to rev match on downshifts.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
