Hello!

I started riding only a couple years ago and my first and current bike is a 2011 Versys 650 - I've loved it and really enjoyed farkling it out. This past summer I rode a 2015 ES at a Yamaha demo day (as well as the awesome FJ-09) and fell in love with it. It fit me so perfectly (I'm 6'5, long inseam) and the bike just seemed to match my frame perfectly. There were so many nice features and upgrades over my Versys, only shortcoming I can see is worse MPG, maybe a little more to manage in traffic with added weight (I have a 50 minute commute) but still 100% upgrade. Overall I'm pretty certain its my next bike and I'm already scoping classified here and on advrider for a 2014+

Anyways thats all, appreciate any input from former Versys owners about the transition! Attached is a pic of my V at the demo day.

Welcome. I was exactly where you are about two months ago. I sold my '11 Versys and bought an ST-ES. I have to admit, while I wouldn't go back, that "V" was an awesome bike. I put over 35,000 miles on mine and it still hummed liked it was brand new. What a great platform. Getting used to this weight is a learning curve for sure. But, I'm glad I made the move which also allows my wife to travel in a bit more comfort.

Cheers.

I can't believe at your height you rode that Versys that much! My wife's Versys is way too small in the cockpit for me at 5'11"

The tenere is awesome

Welcome!

What sort of MPG did the Versys get? I'm generally getting right at 50-51 MPG on the highway (60-67mph) on my 15 ST ES. I suspect the Versys betters that by a decent margin.

I'm 6'4" and long legged and had a 2009 Versys for one Summer. Sold it because it was just too cramped,, seat to pegs and seat to handlebars. That bike did 49-51mpg every tank, with the throttle cables stretched regularly. My 2013 Tenere gets between 45-49mpg. And yes, MUCH more roomy and comfortable for a bigger rider.

Welcome. I too had a black 2010 V. Rode it for 4 years and then switch to a 2012 S10. Am liking the S10 n kept forgetting to use the 6th gear. I rode to 190kph and was wondering why the revs were nearly red line.

I filter in traffic with no difference to the V. The S10 is very easy to do tight turns in slow speed. Once u build the Tenere muscles, pushing the bike is not an issue. I find it easier to push the S10 due to the low center of gravity.

Lowered foot pegs, aftermarket (taller) seat on the Versys = good fitment for my height ::008::
I average about 55-60ish on the Versys so this is good news to hear that the MPGs won't be too far off!

You will love the S10. I'm 6'3" and it has plenty of room for me so I know how you feel!
