I'm a fairly new Yamaha Super Tenere owner living near Spencer, Indiana. I got my Tenere fresh out of the crate 3 weeks ago at Fox's Cycle Shop.....an old school itty bitty shop in Bloomington , Indiana...in biz since 1964. I've only been motorcycle riding since last summer.....well this time...I rode 25 years ago for about 3 years. When I started riding again last year my wife and I both went and bought Harleys....I got a 2006 Road King and she got a 2011 883 Super Lo (She's very short....5' 1"). I decided I wanted something a lot lighter and easier to maneuver than the Harley but I still wanted to be able to carry a lot of STUFF for travel. The "adventure" bike seems to fit the bill. I was amazed.....AMAZED....how smooth the Tenere rides!! I've just bought my official adventure riding jacket (Tourmaster Transitions 3 which I like quite a bit by the way)....so I'm hoping the locals will welcome we with open arms down at the Starbux. ;) I am having a BLAST with the new bike....but I doubt any of you will see me doing any dirt riding for a while...if ever. I'm a 52 year old fat guy with bad knees, a bad back....and piss poor health insurance. I've put 1980 miles on the new bike in the last 3 weeks. Only "farkles" so far is the Givi wind screen (5 inches taller than stock) and SW Motech crash bars. Oh yeah...forgot to say....I LIKE the engine on the Tenere!! It's quite a change from the Harley.....QUITE a change!!

Welcome aboard. And congrats on the S10 !

Having a BLAST is the secret of motorcycling. Good to hear. But your self-description matches more guys on here than you could imagine. Including me!

So don't be too quick to promise you will stop or turn around when the tarmac ends. That would be a real waste of fine Traction Control and ABS engineering that you paid for. :) And besides, you put those crash bars on there for a reason.

Welcome from another customer of Fox's Cycle Shop! I bought the blue one about 4 weeks ago...traded a KLR and FLHTC in. Did you get the black one w/OEM bags?? I live north of you, taught in Cloverdale for 33 years.

Nope, I got another Blue one fresh out of the crate. Gene (the salesman) keeps the black one at home so it won't sell.....perk of the job I suppose. I ride through Cloverdale a lot. I work in Indy....about an hour ride/drive each way....and I sometimes take 231 north to I-70 and in to Indy....or vice versa back home. That hour ride each way is a big part of the reason I've got over 2000 miles on it after only 3 weeks!

Just might do that sometime....that would be a decent ride! My wife and I just got back from our 3 hour ride to breakfast at the Hob Nob in Nashville.....well it's 3 hours at the speed she rides! I noticed this morning that only the middle 1.5 inches of her rear tire shows any wear at all....turns are taken at walking speed....drives me nuts!!!

Hey and welcome, spent a lot of time south of you down in Linton. The best part about the bike is that it only gets better the more miles you put on it. ::001::

Congrats on the purchase, Waiting. That's one long commute! I live in Indy but grew up in Vincennes, IN. I pass through Spencer when I travel SR 67 on my way to Vincennes to visit family.

Welcome from Washinton, Indiana.
All you small worlders get this. I work 3 miles south of Dugger. If you know Linton then I think you know Dugger. Nothin there but one huge coal mine.

Yeap, I know exactly where you are at.......isn't a whole lot of anything down there anymore. My dad used to work for GE when they had a factory there.

If you decide to hit Versailles, swing byn Ft. Ritner and I'll ride over with you. My S10 has 11,000 miles now and I hit 16 States with it this summer.

I know Fort Ritner...we lived there for a while when I was a kid. My Grandparents had a place there. I'm sure you know John Bob Sherfick....he was my uncle. Mom was a Sherfick. We lived in Tunnelton most of my early life until I was around 12, when we moved to Indy.
