Hi all.
My name is Henrik Nikolajsen, and I live in Denmark near Roskilde about 35 kilometers (about 22 miles), from Copenhagen.
I have on 22/4-2017 bought a brand new XT 1200Z 2017 model. This is my first Yamaha.
In my younger days ::), I started out with a Honda VF 500 FII, and about 18 years later (after kids :)), a bought a 8 years old Honda VFR 750 F.
But the type of motorcycle was not really my anymore, so after about 3 years, I changed the VFR with a Honda TransAlp XL 650 V from 2006, and this bike was perfect for me, so I hold on to this bike until now. Where I bought this Yamaha.
The reason I bought the Yamaha, and not the new Africa Twin, is mainly because of the shaft drive. And I belive the Yamaha is a bit more comfortable. I am after all 51 years old ;D
And the Yamaha is also more moderen... Cruise control, spoke wheel and still tubeless, and more..
I have now done about 2300 km (1430 miles) on the Yamaha, and until now it is perfect.

Anyway, I was looking for a forum where I can get answer for some question, and this forum seems to be the best option ::008::. Even though I know most of you is living in the USA.

Sorry for any wrong spelling, and confusing gramma

Best regards
Nikolajsen

Welcome to the group! While the majority are North American here, there is a strong Euro group, too.

And how nice,,at least we are two from Denmark.

@Henrik Leegaard
Why don't we have a decent S10 forum in Denmark? (Hvorfor har vi mon ikke et ordentligt S10 forum i Danmark?)

I might have an opportunity to work in Denmark - should know soon. The town is Odense. How many months per year can one ride a motorcycle? If I move, i'd like to have only bicycles and a motorcycle as my personal transportation options.

I reviewed the Yamaha Denmark website, and the Super Tenere is available. I don't know whether i'd sell mine here and purchase a new one, or try to ship mine there.

If you can offer any insight, it would be much appreciated.

Welcome.

Hi blitz.
Of course, I will tell you everything I think you need to know. And feel free to send more question this way :).

If you only are consern about the cold wether, you can ride at least 8 months pr. year. But the Danish road administration is using salt on the road, with the least bit of - degreas. And sometimes we have a day or 2 with -degreas, but the next weeks the weather is OK to ride, but now we have salt on the road, especially in the spring   NOT good for for the S10.

I only use my S10 for pleasure, and normaly stop riding about first of November +/- And starts again about the first of April.
But it is perfectly OK to ride all March, if you dont care about salt on the road, and also much of November. Thats means that I think that only 3 month is to cold, and potentially dangerous because of slippery roads. (of course you have to look outside the window, and on the thermometer)

We almost dont have snow, maybe 2 week where the roads is covered in snow.

About buying a new S10 here in Denmark, with the Current exchange rate, it will cost about 30.000$. About used S10, they will of course also be a bit expensive, because of the price from new. And there is not so many used on the market.

If you live inside Odense, and dont have to travel far to get to work, it will be perfectly OK with bicycle and S10. We have a decent public transportation, not perfect, and not cheep, but OK.

If you are happy with you current S10, I would investigate the cost for the transportation, I dont think it is that expensive to put it in a container, and get i shipped to Denmark.
BUT be aware, I seem to remember something about that it isnt lecal to ride you bike with your current plate on it, if you have a adress in Denmark. I can investigate this, if you want, and if you deside to move.
And to get Danish plate on it, there will be some taxes.
The Danish authority you have to talk with. about this is "SKAT" www.skat.dk Hmm...apparently not possible to change language on skat.dk....

We will welcome you in Denmark ::004::
