Hello all,
My name is Wally and I'm thinking of buying a Super T.

This Saturday, my wife and I will be test-riding a (used) Super T with the idea that we will replace two bikes with one. We have a 2005 FJR 1300 and a 2011 KLR 650.

My wife's response to pictures of the Super T is: "It's not sexy like the FJR!", so she is really going to have to be happy with the ride or it's a no go.

She also reminds me that the only reason she rides is for the curves. Her question "Does the Super T go fast around curves like the FJR?". Boy I sure hope the Super T doesn't handle like a dog in the twisties.

The good news is that the current owner of the Super T will trade it for our bikes plus a few extra $$$. :)

Wally

Welcome and good luck with the test drive. I would keep in mind that many owners that ride two up have replaced the rear shock to handle the additional load better.

Get the Tenere. You will love it. My wife was never a fan of riding 2 up until she rode on the back of the S10.

Hey thanks for the welcome everyone. Good to hear all the good things from riders of Super Ten. Also good to see at least one of you have both an FJR and a Super Ten.

::004:: Wally!

S10 will carve a very nice corner. Different bike than the FJR, but I view it as another tool in the toolbox!

Both bikes complement each other nicely! ;D

Welcome Wally, to the forum. I don't believe you will be disappointed with the road manners of the Tenere'. It's got plenty of grin factor for twisty roads that we are fortunate to live near, I live in Murfreesboro so if you wnat to ride sometime give me a PM and we can set something up. Hope the trade works out for you and you will find much good information on these boards to enjoy.

I can honestly say my S10 has much more sport ability than i have talent. On a recent trip to the Smoky Mountains i was very impressed with the S10 cornering and braking. Linked brakes are awesome.

The S10 is surprisingly nimble in the corners. It will lean right over rather readily. I actually find it easier to ride in the curvy stuff as the wide handlebars and slightly narrower tires allow quicker input responses for change of direction and steering corrections.

Take a mini fuse with you. :)
Put it in your pocket. Go around the corner and stick it in.

Be nice though. No WOT on somebody else's future bike.
But it will give you a better idea of how the first 3 gears will run without restrictions. And if you like the bike, you are sure to like it even better broken it. (And flashed)

Good luck

You think they would notice? It almost looks like it belongs there. Lol

And then that dealer will start selling more Teneres!
Man they demo so much less than what they are.

Yes given its size it handles well but its not sports bike sharp. 19 inch front wheel and lots of trail for stability require some effort to throw her into corners. Change to 50 50 type tyres and it wont give you the grip of a road base tyre. Something else that will slow you around the corners.

I'll take that compromise. See how good a sports bike does on dirt.... ::024::

I'm now officially the proud owner of a 2102 Super Tenere with 3,800 miles. ::003:: My wife and I took a 2-1/2 hour test ride and both voted yes. Then we rode it 120 miles home. Pics tomorrow!
