Same here. The amount of Tiger 800 written off because of a bent instrument panel mount (the whole lot is one part) is a bit troubling. BUT it makes for a cheaper build and lighter. With all the internet experts around focused on nothing but HP weight and wheel size, I wouldn't blame them really.

As long as it doesn't strand you somewhere, I suppose it doesn't really matter, except for the possible insurance premium implications.

It is a prototype like the original XTourer was a prototype. There are too many video's teasers and patents around for it to be anything less than a pre production version. Details may change but it will be essentially the same thing I reckon.

Remember the S10's initial release? This one is a bit more complete don't you think?

Won't be trading my S10 anytime soon for that Honda Africa Twin if that pic represents the finished product. It reminds me of the KTM Super Enduro. Very dirt oriented which is great if that's what you want. I like a little more comfort for my 65% pavement riding.
But always nice to have more choices. Honda is very late coming to the table but at least they finally showed up!

Do you not get the Honda VFR1200 Crosstourer over there? Close to the S10 on certain items, such as shaftdrive, wire wheels, off road ability (it may have been the XL1000 Veradero's replacement)...... oh and the V4 lump with and awesome exhaust note

Nope. It is not sold in Canada or the United States. Honda has never fully recovered from its "Night of the Long Knives" purge of its dealer network five or six years ago, in favour of their stupid and now discredited "Powerhouse" concept, when they decided motorcycles should be sold in car dealerships, along with snow blowers and outboard motors. A lot of very fine and well established Honda dealers lost their franchises then and most have not gotten them back.

I've never seen anything that says that the Crosstourer is anywhere close to the S10 off-road.

Yup...that was a bad move on Honda's part IMHO.
Also their offerings in the 800cc and up are truly pathetic and bazzare.

Dont forget that ever since they went to the powerhouse format, they are under the impression that they can charge 30% over msrp of other manufacturers...

I found the CrossTourer less to my liking than the Tenere. The Honda is MUCH more road oriented.

Yes. I agree. The CrossTourer won't hold a candle to the S10 off road. Of all the big Adventure bikes out there right now, only the KTM is better offroad. I find it better even than the GS12 offroad.

I wouldn't take the Xtourer far away from the unpaved road. It might have spoke wheels, but it's place isnon the road.
