Finally got my first generation used 2012 blue S10 imported and licensed today, here in BC, Canada. I purchased through Skagit Powersports in Burlington, WA and they were great! The import process involved numerous steps but there were no serious hassles and just required a little planning and a few trips south of the line. I saved big! Bike only had 630 miles! Prices in Canada are just too high. Fellow Canucks: "We are being ripped off here!" Like other newbies, I found this Forum to be of great assistance in the decision making process. Thanks!! Pete, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Welcome on, Pete from B. C., CA. Glad you got 'er done. Hope you don't have any warranty issues. We're snowed in and frozen down up here. No more riding until April. Good luck. R ::004:: R. ::022::

Welcome, greetings from Calgary.
NO worries on the warranty issues, after all you didn't buy a BMW ::002::
keep an eye on your rear spokes, change oil, ride the crap out of it.
Myself, Dave 6, and Red Cat all bought down south, no issues.
My dealer in great falls was fantastic, one trip down, pay for the bike, half hour at both border crossings, and half hour at crappy tire. Done. And a lot of money in my pocket
If I have any issues with the bike I simply get a hold of my dealer, and he helps me out. There's some spokes on the way.
So if you have a good relationship with your dealer, no worries.
Except for the spoke issue, the bike is bullet proof. Just did a minor service on mine (22xxx km) spark plugs looked good, k and n filter went in.

Pete,

I know the exact bike you bought. I test rode it (don't worry, I babied it)! Congrats. Skagit is a good dealer. I went with a new one from a dealer in Munroe, WA and am very happy. They were closer to me in the Seattle area versus Skagit.
Canada seems to have more Yamaha after market accessories though! ::022:: I bought my black OEM panniers and top case (plus the headlight protector and "Sandman" tank pad) from Checkpoint Yamaha in Port Coquitlam. You want to get your bike service by a guy named "J.P." there. Extremely good.
By the way, I am orignally a Canuck living down here. Best of both worlds! The microbrews are even pretty good.
You will have to come down to one of Hoebster's get-togethers. He holds them at his place in Issaquah. Fun getting to meet other owner, get ideas and maintenance tips.

Yes, I agree. I wasn't trying to throw an oily rag on your purchase. Just simply wishing you a trouble free ownership experience. Cross border warranties CAN be a real pain in some instances. Here'e hoping you never even have to call on it. A lot of guys have bought over the border with great success. Best of luck all around, R ::008::

If you buy close to the border it a no brainer as far as warranty. Hop down and get it fixed. Trouble is nothing ever goes wrong. Its a Yamaha, not a BMW. Welcome to the Club. You don't realize what a great machine it is till you've owned it for a while. Big Grin Factor! ::001::

Welcome aboard. I sold my old Strom to a rider from BC. He said the same thing about saving $$. I think REM wishes he lived closer to the border so he could get out of his igloo sooner. I'm having trouble getting out of my igloo too. Damn the snow, highly unusual for these parts. I love the cross border trading. I got my Nomada's from a BC connection. Cheers, Barry
